Abstract
Se refiere, al apilamiento de toxinas Cry1Be junto con toxinas Cry1Fa para evitar que los insectos desarrollen resistencia hacia cualquiera de las dos toxinas por sí misma. Segun lo descrito el par de proteínas es una combinacion particularmente ventajosa, ya que no se conoce ningun otro par de proteínas que proporcione niveles elevados de control y actividad de resistencia no cruzada contra insectos Spodoptera frugiperda (FAW, siglas correspondientes a gusano cogollero)) y Ostrinia nubilalis (ECB (taladrador europeo del maíz)). Esta doble actividad de resistencia no cruzada es también ventajosa ya que puede reducir la cantidad de proteínas! genes necesarios para apuntar hacia estos insectos con multiples proteínas de resistencia no cruzada. Esto puede reducir o eliminar la necesidad de áreas en acres de refugio. Por consiguiente, se refiere, además, al uso de cuatro genes para proporcionar tres proteínas para el control de la resistencia no cruzada de un primer insecto, y tres proteínas para el control de la resistencia no cruzada de un segundo insecto. En realizaciones preferidas, los insectos objetivos son el gusano cogollero (FAW) y el taladrador europeo del maíz (ECB).
