Abstract
Métodos para incrementar la eficacia de la utilizacion de nitrogeno en plantas monocotiledoneas que comprende una modificacion genética para incrementar los niveles de expresion de alanita aminotransferasa y plantas producidas con los mismos. En particular, se describen métodos para incrementar la biomasa y el rendimiento de plantas monocotiledoneas transgénicas cultivadas bajo condiciones limitantes de nitrogeno en comparacion con plantas no transgénicas. De esta manera, se pueden producir plantas monocotiledoneas que mantienen el rendimiento deseado en tanto se reduce la necesidad de aplicar niveles altos de nitrogeno
