Abstract

Métodos para producir una semilla híbrida no natural. Además se revelan ARN micro específicos y sitios de reconocimiento de ARN micro utiles para conferir esterilidad inducible a una planta de cultivo, y la construccion de ADN recombinante que incluye estos sitios de reconocimiento de ARN micro exogeno. Reivindicacion 1: Un método para producir una semilla híbrida no natural, que comprende: (a) aportar una primera planta progenitora transgénica estéril por induccion que contiene en su genoma una construccion de ADN recombinante que se transcribe a ARN que comprende: (i) al menos un sitio de reconocimiento de ARNmi exogeno reconocible por un ARNmi maduro que se expresa específicamente en tejido reproductivo de dicha primera planta progenitora; y (ii) un primer ARN mensajero que codifica una proteína que imparte tolerancia a un primer herbicida; donde dicho ARNmi maduro suprime específicamente la expresion de dicha proteína en dicho tejido reproductivo, y donde la esterilidad de dicha primera planta progenitora es inducible por aplicacion de dicho primer herbicida a dicha primera planta progenitora; y (b) cruzar dicha primera planta progenitora con una segunda planta progenitora en condiciones donde la esterilidad ha sido inducida en dicha primera planta progenitora, produciendo de este modo una semilla híbrida no natural. Reivindicacion 16: Una planta transgénica estéril por induccion que contiene en su genoma una construccion de ADN recombinante que se transcribe a ARN que compende: (a) al menos un sitio de reconocimiento de ARNmi exogeno reconocible por un ARNmi maduro que se expresa específicamente en tejido reproductivo de dicha planta; y (b) ARN mensajero que codifica una proteína que imparte tolerancia a un herbicida; donde dicho ARNmi maduro suprime específicamente la expresion de dicha proteína en dicho tejido reproductivo, donde la esterilidad de dicha planta transgénica es inducible por aplicacion de dicho herbicida a dicha planta.
