Abstract
Método para identificar un polipéptido 5-enolpiruvil-3-fosfoshiquimato sintetasa resistente a glifosato y aislamiento de las moléculas de ADN que codifican dichos polipéptidos. Se describen además construcciones de ADN quimérico que son de utilidad para transformar y expresar el polipéptido 5-enolpiruvil-3-fosfoshiquimato sintetasa resistente a glifosato en bacterias y células vegetales. Se provee moléculas de ADN quimérico que son de utilidad para transformar células vegetales, y plantas transformadas, progenie y partes de las mismas regeneradas a partir de células vegetales transformadas. Reivindicacion 1: Una molécula de ADN quimérico caracterizada porque comprende una molécula promotora funcional en una célula vegetal ligada operativamente a una molécula de polinucleotidos que codifica un polipéptido 5-enolpiruvil-3-fosfoshiquimato sintetasa resistente a glifosato, donde dicho polipéptido 5-enolpiruvil-3-fosfoshiquimato sintetasa comprende los dominios de secuencia X1-D- K-S, donde X1 es G o A o S o P; S-A-Q-X2-K, donde X2 es cualquier aminoácido; y R-X3-X4-X5-X6, donde X3 es D o N, X4 es Y o H, X5 es T o S, X6 es R o E; y N-X7-X8-R, donde X7 es P o E o Q, y X8 es R o L. Reivindicacion 28: Un método para matar selectivamente las malezas en un campo de plantas de cultivo, caracterizado porque dicho método comprende los pasos de: a) plantar semillas o plantas de cultivo que poseen tolerancia a glifosato como resultado de la insercion de una molécula de ADN quimérico en el genoma de dichas semillas o plantas de cultivo, donde dicha molécula de ADN comprende la molécula de ADN de la cláusula 1 o de la cláusula 15; y b) aplicar a dichas semillas o plantas de cultivo una cantidad de glifosato suficiente como para inhibir el crecimiento de plantas sensibles a glifosato, donde dicha cantidad de glifosato no afecta significativamente a dichas semillas o plantas de cultivo que comprenden la molécula ADN quimérico.
