Abstract

Se publica un método para mantener la esterilidad masculina en las plantas. El método consiste en la transformación genética de la líneas vegetalesprogenitoras con un gen de la esterilidad que está genéticamente relacionado con el gen de laresist encia que confiere resistencia a un agente selectivo,aumentando la línea vegetal progenitora transgénica;y revistiendo la semilla de la línea vegetal progenitora transgénica aumentada con una composicióncaracterizada por cantidades efectivasde un ag ente selectivo al cual el gen de la resistencia le confiere resistencia. El gen de la resistencia puede estarbajo el control de un gen inducible, o alternativamente, bajo el control de un constitutivo o tejido específico, incluyendopromotores es pecíficos de lasemilla.
