Abstract
Un vehículo de manejo de materiales comprende un compartimiento de operador, una torre de compartimiento, una herramienta de escaneo de campos múltiples y mecanismos que facilitan el movimiento a lo largo de un plano de viaje o recorrido en un almacén. La herramienta establece un campo de escaneo, y, dentro de los límites de campo de escaneo, un campo de detección de ocupación y un campo de detección de obstáculos. El hardware de herramienta de escaneo se configura para generar el campo de escaneo desde un punto de origen que se eleva con relación al compartimiento de operador y para expandir el campo de escaneo tal que intersecta el compartimiento de operador y se extiende lateralmente más allá de los bordes laterales del compartimiento de operador tal que el campo de detección de ocupación desciende dentro del compartimiento de operador, el campo de detección de obstáculos desciende afuera del compartimiento de operador, y la herramienta de escaneo de campos múltiples se configura para indicar la presencia de un ocupante del campo de detección de ocupación y obstáculos en el campo de detección de obstáculos.
