Abstract
Se proveen métodos para obtener células expandidas de sangre de cordón umbilical humano que expresan CD34. Los métodos incluyen sembrar una cantidad suficiente de células de sangre de cordón con una cantidad suficiente de células menstruales, en condiciones de cocultivo adecuadas para promover la expansión de las células de sangre de cordón, y cocultivar las células de sangre de cordón con las células menstruales en condiciones de cultivo que soporten, al menos, dos o más duplicaciones de población de células de sangre de cordón. También se proveen métodos para desarrollar células expandidas de sangre de cordón umbilical humano para originar cualquiera de las unidades formadoras de colonias de células precursoras de linaje sanguíneo: unidad formadora de colonia granulocítica y macrofágica (CFU-GM), unidades formadoras de brotes eritroides (BFU-E), y unidad formadora de colonia granulocitica, eritroide, macrofágica, megacariocítica (CFU-GEMM). Las células expandidas pueden expresar CD34, SSEA-4, y HLA-ll. También se proveen las composiciones de las células expandidas.
