Both of these shows involve the mc solving various mysteries. Kobato almost seems like he could have been just like Shinichi if it weren't for him deciding to change how he approached things while in Middle School.
Shoushimin is more focused on interaction between characters though, and the various mysteries don't seem as high of stakes as they are in Detective Conan (aka. Shoushimin doesn't involve the character solving murders during most episodes).
