Underrated. The story itself is honestly pretty average, and at times it feels like it’s going through familiar motions. It doesn’t really break new ground, and a lot of the plot beats are predictable if you’ve seen a lot of anime. That said, I still found myself enjoying it.
What really makes it stand out is the direction and animation. The way scenes are framed and paced adds a lot of weight to moments that would otherwise feel pretty standard. It just feels more thoughtful than the story alone would suggest. The characters are solid too, even if they aren’t especially deep. They have clear flaws and motivations, which makes them easy enough to stay invested in.
The last episode is what really sold it for me. It ties everything together in a way that makes the whole series feel more meaningful, and the direction in that final stretch elevates moments that could have otherwise fallen flat.
I wouldn’t say it’s an amazing story, but the direction really carries it. It’s one of those shows where how it’s told matters more than what’s being told. I think people who value strong presentation will enjoy it.
