This is a story that's very difficult to recommend.
The manga itself is amazing in terms of quality: the art is superb, the storytelling is extremely well put together, both in terms of plot and character consistency and progression, and the drama and the ways to express it are all beautiful to see unfold.
The reason it is hard to recommend is that it's very hard to talk about it without spoiling anything. Everything that makes this story stand out is stuff that you can hardly conceive from the first chapter, and everything that might put you off it is very spoiler heavy.

I tried the English translation originally, but after not understanding a few points halfway through, so I started over again from the Japanese version. I'm not trying to diss the English translation and the efforts that went to it, but the difference was like night and day. Not only were the points I didn't understand actually extremely clear to follow in the original language, but many character interactions I hadn't understood suddenly clicked, and I could tell where the story was going since pretty early on. If you can read the Japanese version, go with that. If not, I say this just as a heads up in case you find yourself lost when reading the English version. Don't take everything in the translation literally, if you give it a bit of room for interpretation, it's likely that you'll make sense of it by the end.
