Synopsis

Among the seaside town of Izu's ocean waves and rays of shining sun, Iori Kitahara is just beginning his freshman year at Izu University. As he moves into his uncle's scuba diving shop, Grand Blue, he eagerly anticipates his dream college life, filled with beautiful girls and good friends.

But things don't exactly go according to plan. Upon entering the shop, he encounters a group of rowdy, naked upperclassmen, who immediately coerce him into participating in their alcoholic activities. Though unwilling at first, Iori quickly gives in and becomes the heart and soul of the party. Unfortunately, this earns him the scorn of his cousin, Chisa Kotegawa, who walks in at precisely the wrong time. Undeterred, Iori still vows to realize his ideal college life, but will things go according to plan this time, or will his situation take yet another dive?

What happens when you go to University? Perhaps you'll make new friends, join an extracurricular club, grind Leetcode and find an internship etc. You are now ready to head to school! Oh shit, you blacked out, butt naked in front of your engineering cohort and cousin on the 1st day at school.

Comedy is the most subjective genre so to pull fans in you have to do something unique or different like Kaguya-Sama or The Greatest Estate Developer however Grand Blue just doesn't do it.

In general Grand Blue is good but that's it, don't get me wrong it is definitely funny but after a bit it just feels repetitive and overused alot like how I feel with Shonen animes with their constant and boring fight scenes.

tldr; story is about how crimes are actually hilarious, with some diving thrown in.

I tried to read as much as I could, I really did, but this manga is just too strange for me and I have to take a break after every joke. I'm in disbelief that this is a Seinen and not a Shonen.

I don't tolerate second hand embarrassment well and that's this story's bread and butter. We have characters repeatedly forcing/tricking other characters into intoxication, and it's played off as a joke and they're not villainized at all. The MC wants to get a girl drunk so she can't say no to ...
