Synopsis

The so-called "Lighthouse of the North," the prosperous trading town of Schoarra, hides a dark underbelly: seedy slums ruled by five ruthless crime bosses. When streetwise orphan Vlad finds the brothel he works for decimated by a disgraced knight, he turns to the path of the blade, pledging himself to the pursuit of power by sword. Blessed with the ability to seek wisdom from his sentient sword, Vlad embarks upon a journey of growth and peril as swordsman in service to the powerful House Vayezid.

Quick review here;

The Stellar Swordmaster is widely regarded as a great manhwa, and it lives up to it's hype. At the point of me writing this review, there has been 114 chapters released, so either mine or the public opinion my change, but so far it's very promising.

Storywise one of the main reason why to read it, is because there has been no clear 'ending' or final goal set for our story, as our protagonist doesn't have a "destined ending". He does have a goal in mind, but I highly doubt completing it would make an end to this great manhwa. At least not ...

It's barely more than a korean makjang melodrama in western fantasy setting with a somehow 8th grade syndrome theme of a teenage wanting to become the strongest and avenge his past mentor, a revenge of which in more than 100 chapters there's not even the tiniest remotest trace and I doubt it will happen in the next 100 chaps unless they cheat by suddenly rushing the pace of his growth.

There is a lot of emotional rhetoric as typical in all korean writing. There's also a lot of rage bait with ugly evil looking villains made only to make you feel angry at them. Cheap lazy ...

This manhwa disappointed me. I only read 38 chapters cause I thought it might improve, but no, if you don't like it by chapter 10, drop it.

It seems the rest of the cast's only function is to raise our main character up.

Most of the antagonists are one dimensional and unrealistic. You can tell they were written to be hated, and to be squashed by MC. I'll even list out all the antagonists that I remember:
- Godin: honestly he's okay. I can see why he did what he did (he justifies his actions as part of his job).
