This is simply one of my favorite one-shots that I've read and I can't help but keep coming back to it. It's always such a sweet read.

It's about a husband and wife and it's the typical plot of one is dying from cancer but it's about how one pushes others away, either by avoiding them or treating them differently, as a way to prevent the other from getting hurt. The story follows the husband as he finds out why his wife is so different as he tries to justify it to her basically dying till he finds out why she is being so cold and ...

Mixed Feelings

I love one-shots for their conciseness, there's no unnecessary bloat and the author gets straight to the point. That said, there's a fine line between being concise and rushing character growth. To truly feel for a character's end, you need time to get attached to them, and in this specific story, I felt that 'time' was missing. Don't get me wrong, the final was sad, but it didn't hit as hard as it should have.

For those on the fence: I still recommend reading this. Even with my gripes, it’s a solid story. It just takes five minutes to read, so it’s definitely worth it.
