Reading the manga for the first time after watching the anime around 4 years ago, I had forgotten that Light did some really clever plotting. Man! I’m hyped again.

As a first time reader/watcher, I’m trying really hard to deduce what is Light’s game plan here. How will this isolation and forsaking of the DN lead to him saving Misa, have the Kira murders continue, and clear up his name for the time being? I doubt Ryuk will get involved within the game, so perhaps it will be Rem who shall remain in the human world and cover up for Light for the time being? Objectively he won’t know anything about the murders by forsaking ownership of the DN, but the way this whole thing will pan out is unclear to me. Perhaps a good sleep and more binge reading is the solution…
