These girls are clever.

Despite being transported into some other world, they still use their bowling skills for survival. Who would've thought they would use those bowling skills as a way to attack? Mai is especially impressive here. But yeah, this anime really turned into something way different than what people thought it would be. They also met another character who might be trustworthy as an ally.

Another pretty entertaining episode, although the story took a totally different turn.

Well, at least we got to see more some "bowling", hehe. I was expected to see something hilarious like that. Bowling balls are quite an effective weapons.

Good job, girls!

This is probably in the top 2 plot twists for a "cute girls show". We all know which is #1.

Still not sure if it's worth watching beyond the intial surprise. Although, I dig how campy this is. The fact that they're using their bowling balls as weapon is hilarious xD And I kinda like the semi-serious tone. So yeah, may as well stick around to see what happens.

Oh man, the staff is different, yet it's another historical original from the same studio that gave us Jouran... Mou Ippon was a good female cast sports series, tho. To me it's an interesting fun fact how Turkey! combines the aforementioned genres and themes of these two anime, which were Brakken Record's only other TV series up to this point.

It was smart of the girls to use their bowling balls as weapons. It will be really interesting to see where the story goes from here.

What is this?! The anime of the "Dreams of the Era"!!! This is not a correct translation, tho...
I don’t even know how to properly translate the phrase “Ahlam Al-Asr” ุฃุญู„ุงู… ุงู„ุนุตุฑ into English — but it basically means something so bizarre and unexpected that no one would ever imagine it!

It’s like you took a nap in the afternoon and had a weird dream that made absolutely no sense or logic at all!

Seriously, what’s the message of this anime? Is that bowling some kind of historical legend? Or is it about cute girls fighting warriors using bowling balls or what exactly???

My head is going to explode... such a weird episode.

Fast forwarded through the second episode in hopes of seeing more actual normal bowling, but nope, apparently we are using bowling balls as weapons now.

Really sucks. I wish everyone who enjoyed the plot twist and this new direction of the story lots of fun watching the anime ๐Ÿ‘ But I think I'll be dropping this one, just ain't my cup of tea... ๐Ÿ˜•

Listing this anime as a sports genre is so borderline. It's a real shame, since it had the potential to develop a great dynamic with appealing characters in such a fringe sport. Instead, we have another isekai.

This. I love how campy this is. I think if they took in entirely seriously it would start to really fall apart. But if we can crack jokes and use bowling balls as weapons then I think this will be really fun. Especially if we have interesting or fun parallels with their ancestors, or whatever their lookalikes end up being.

@CommanderZx2 It is a 'different world' in which the experiences of the modern time create an advantage. Of course, one could say that time travel isn't the same as isekai, but in this case, it is. Since the time jump has no real connection to their time ("their real world"), but rather serves only to beam themselves into "another world".

@hannadukurs Isekai means 'different world' and this anime does not take place on a different world, i.e. it is not an isekai.

I mean, I get where he's coming from with isekaish. In an isekai the protagonist has to adapt to a new environment. This anime here isn't an isekai per defintion, but the execution here kinda fits the bill even tho it's just time travel.

Heh, those girls really risked themselves to help Suguri. If those bandits hadn't been cowards it might have gone badly for them.
Anyway, this is nicely animated and the OP/ED are good so I think that it does deserve a 7/10 at least. Perhaps people are angry because they came for a CGDCT sports anime about bowling and suddenly find themselves in a time travel anime.
At any rate I think this will take more than three episodes to gather steam so my recommendation is that if you are being entertained don't make episode three your cutoff for the decider.

there is genuine potential in developing Mai as a more confident and reliable person but i cant believe that we will have to see that development in such an absurd setting as this. i dont think i will ever get over the fact that we have to do this time travel craziness

I was curious that the new Sengoku character at the very end was also playing a variation of bowling, so i searched up the history of bowling and it seems like it does have some history dating to the ancient Egyptians! pretty interesting

They got creative using the bowling bowls to take out the enemies. Nozomi was annoying throughout the episode.

I already said last week that this wasn’t what I was expecting at all, then they open this episode with rapey soldiers, dudes getting arrows shot through their hands, blood everywhere and the girls using a bowling ball to knock out soldiers, I had my jaw on the floor lmao. Based on the ending, I still think this is gonna be them basically starting a bowling club in the Sengoku era, but we might see a lot more action than I anticipated which is cool!

I think it would be a funny twist if all the girls they meet in this era end up being their ancestors. I feel like the hair colours won’t be a coincidence.

The character animation was actually amazing in this episode too wow. They went hard. Idk how this is rated so lowly after two episodes on MAL, we got a cool twist in episode 1 and episode 2 has some great production values and animation. People are weird.

I am equal parts disappointed and intrigued, lol. As someone who grew up bowling in middle/highschool, and who typically isn't that into sports anime, I was actually really excited to see an anime about bowling, for once I would be able to watch a sport being played, and actually know how accurate or over the top it is... so was taken by complete surprise when it turned into a time travel anime... (I didn't read the synopsis, just saw it was about bowling, and that was enough for me)

So a little disappointed there, but still quite intrigued to see what they are going for... this is probably one of the biggest cases of anime whiplash I've ever received.

And for the record, bowling a perfect ball, on a jungle floor, and bouncing it off someone's leg to smack them in the face, is not very realistic... If she can do that, she really shouldn't have any issues hitting a 7-10 split, lol.

They all go from being mediocre bowlers in real life, to being able to all perfectly hit their targets, on uneven ground, on the first try..

The OP is really good. But I thought it'd have more bowling in it. Instead, we have the girls performing in a band. Weird but cool. But if someone only watched the OP, they'd think it was a music anime like K-On or something. Not a bowling anime. Or whatever the heck it is now.

Damn. This anime's actually brutal. Wasn't expecting that at all. I thought the violence would be minimal but I'm kinda glad it isn't. The comedy with the casual beheadings will go hard lol.

You know I actually liked how they saved that "boy" (voiced by Kikuko Inoue) with modern tech and creativity. The girls don't have any magical powers. At least not yet. So it was cool to see them take down 2 guys with bowling balls and shit. It was funny but also cool. I kinda hope they don't get magical powers and only get by using their smarts and modern knowledge. That'd be so cool. But I kinda doubt it'd happen.

Wait was that Sengoku girl Sumomo (voiced by Hidaka Noriko) playing bowling? What the fuck? How old is bowling? What's this ancient game called?

Anyway, I'm hooked. This anime gets more and more interesting.

They try to remain CGDCT atmosphere even in the middle of warzone, that's quite something.

I've a feeling that that warrior boy is actually a girl (judging from his female voice actress), and I hope I'm wrong, because I want a boy, any boy, at all cost, even in the CGDCT anime like this.

How did they manage to hit their living targets on the forest, how oiled up is their ball? Still the absurdity of it happening makes it funny enough. Being carried by your (future) descendant who is somehow many times stronger than you has got to evoke funny emotions. Overall, this show is for now fun. Now when do we get the killing and the drama?

I think it is officially time to drop this anime. While this episode did have some cool things like the opening credits, the animation, and the violence...this is still not what was being promoted and is far from what I want. Sure, the girls are using their bowling skills in this new world, but it is so far removed from what I wanted, that I think I am just going to drop it. It has dark stuff, and the opening seems to suggest a bunch more of that coming, but this is not what I signed up to CrunchyRoll to watch. Both opening and closing credits dare to show them in their actual time (aka what was being promoted), and don't show anything about where they are (feudal Japan times). This show wants it both ways and I am done. Which is fine. If you are liking this show, awesome. But I have many other shows I am interested to watch, and this one isn't one of those anymore.

Not saying the character in question couldn't turn out in some twist down the line to be a girl, as gender swap, crossdressing, "traps" and reverse traps, and all that are common across various different anime series and pop up unexpectedly sometimes. But I don't see the basis for it in this case. Female seiyuu voicing young male characters, children and teenagers in particular, is beyond commonplace and an established thing in the anime industry for so long. When I see at least a mid-teenage boy or younger character, I almost automatically expect them to be voiced by a woman.

This show keeps on surprising. Went in expecting a Sports anime, it still is... sort of. CGDCT also sort of. Can't understand why people keep complaining about Nozomi, I found her and her deodorant funny. It's Rina who hits a nerve for me, she keeps on projecting her own faults on Mai in my opinion. But conclusion: I'm in it for the ride and we'll see where it goes, I have great expectations for this.

Of all anime genres, I'm most disgusted and hate characters like Rina. She seems to think she's the most right, doesn't want to listen to other people's opinions, and worst of all, because of her high self-esteem, she tends to hurt others with her words. I hope that bitch Rina dies and is killed by a samurai!!!!

I think I could see where the story is headed.

I would like to bet that those people are their ancestors, the pink haired girl and the mask has striking similarity with Mai and Rina. Suguri is strong and Sayuri is too while having almost the same hair color. Nanase seems to be the strongest proof because of the 2nd trailer.

If my guess is correct then I think we won't see anyone dying, if no one is dying then the rest of the anime is gonna be a mystery.
Also the song from the 2nd trailer will most likely gonna be an insert song so there's gonna be some sad/shocking moments.

Never in my life I'm very mixed with an anime, I'm very pissed that the first bowling anime is about this, but at the same time this anime could have more shock factor than Akiba Meido Sensou.
