hello, my first thread in this section i am a novice manga reader and i suffer so much when I have a bunch of publishing mangas on my currently reading, sometimes I put them on hold and after months try to pick them back up but I've already forgotten what happened up until that part...

IS THAT A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG MANGA READERS OR I AM JUST AN INCOMPETENT LOW IQ HUMAN ? cuz sometimes I seriously doubt that seeing people with 50+ in my currently reading... i am in awe tbh...

WHAT IS THE TRICK ? HOW CAN I BE MORE LIKE YOU? help a sister out !!

Some people just forgot to put some titles on hold or whatever. But for people who really read many titles at once (20+), they might be used to this, but I would not recommend it. It’s certainly not for everyone and can be unhealthy for some people, lol!!

I usually prefer to read older manga titles or ones that are already complete, seems like it would be a bit too stressful balancing that and Anime at the same time. I think one piece is the only exception for me. @_@

You aren't alone.
I don't got much tips because for the most part, I totally avoid reading publishing manga for some of the reasons listed.
Or decide that I'll just wait. Since I have no shortage of completed PTR.

Like, instead of forcing yourself to keep up every week or monthly, you read manga in chunks or volumes. You read until you hit a natural stopping point, either the start of a new arc or the end of one, and then just pause there.

wait until enough chapters have piled up before start , then read them all at once to catch up with the ongoing. If I spend years keep up monthly, but it ended disspointe, I will be very mad

I usually handle it by reading the more story-heavy or complex series volume by volume, so I don't lose track of too much. Since I also collect and buy a lot of series, that approach works well anyway, especially with release gaps of two months or more. Sometimes I will even skim or reread the previous volume just to keep everything fresh.

Books or light novels I tend to read in one go once they're out. Especially Light Novels—they are usually pretty easy reads, though they can be a bit repetitive with tropes and blabla, haha. With my J-Novel subscription, I mostly read chapter by chapter.

I've been reading a lot since I was a kid though, so it is probably something you get better at over time. Everyone kinda has to find their own rhythm. My general rule is: dense/complex series one volume at a time, everything else in smaller chunks. You will get the hang of it with a bit of practice.

MAL is far from being my primary site for literature, which is why I’ve stopped doing single-chapter updates. Baka-Updates and two French sites are far superior—more detailed, complete, and less restrictive. They're perfect for manga, light novel, and book collectors like me, making the process much less stressful and tiring. -g-

As for remembering what happened, I usually speedread through the previous chapter if several months or even over a year has passed, and that makes me remember most story details and characters. If I still don't remember anything despite that I'll just drop it since I probably didn't find it very interesting anyways

I don't feel overwhelmed because not all the publishing manga/manhua is gonna get new chapters every week month, let alone every week. So it's normally just 30 min to 1 hour of daily reading, or sometimes even less
