Spoilers for anime-only viewers who haven't seen the OVAs!

Hurrah! Now that we're confirmed season 2 of Yona, I'm curious how they're going to do
.

If you've watched the Yona OVAs, you'll know
, but in the manga, these scenes appear later on after the original anime ended, and in the manga
How are they going to handle
if they've already covered those plot points in the original OVAs? Do you think they'll update them and insert them into the sequel, or will they be like "please refer to original OVAs for this section of the story" and skip over them entirely?

Personally, I'd love to see an updated version of the OVAs in the sequel, since story-wise it would make the most sense, and it'd closely follow the original manga's plot and character arcs. Furthermore, there are likely some anime-only viewers who've never seen the original OVAs before, so adding an updated version of them into the sequel would be a great way to reveal certain plot points.

But idk. Whichever studio does this will probably do it very well (I hope!). What are your thoughts?

I don’t know, I feel like they handled it pretty well in the OVAs and I wouldn’t want a lesser and abridged version of it.

It’s like if it’s purely a sequel then they already expect you to remember the show from over a decade ago so it’s not a reach to include the OVAs in that.

I wouldn't mind one bit if they simply aired the OVAs when the S2 reaches the point where the manga explains it, getting a couple of weeks in the middle of the season (Praying for at least 24 chapters) so they can mantain a healthy schedule

The OVAs were side stories iirc. Yes, they're canon but not to the point where they have to be watched in order.

I agree in that I would love to see the OVA updated for season 2 when we get to those plot points. I'm hoping that they do at least just re-air them and incorporate them as episodes in the second season but I reckon it really depends on whether its the same studio or not.

I don't think season 2 will reach the OVAs
