This season is making me feel quite uneasy about Fushi and the author's intentions with the story. I don't like Mizuha and she's given a lot of screentime. Fushi behaves like a jerk and in a way we haven't been used to. Tonari is right for being mad at him and she's probably the one I empathize with the most. The Black one isn't helping at all either.

I hope this is actually going somewhere because I'm quite confused at this point.

Poor Hirotoshi he is never gonna live down the allegations, is he? He wants to be a proper big brother but that damn nokker is feeding his addiction.

I get Fushi is probably mad at the Black One for giving up, but it won't solve anything. If anything it is like Fushi is also becoming more human too.

Good episode, but I REALLY want to know next episode why Hirotoshi had to do that flashing at the end of the episode lol. If that was without purpose, then it's a dumb scene.

I kinda hope that Fushi finds a way to revive those other people, I mean, he can change into their bodies, so there's some connection. And he should learn how to reach the smaller Nokker.

It's insane we have 22 episodes and are only at episode 8, lots of room to tell a story. The one big thing I hope to find out is: Why do we even care about Nokkers taking over the world, when we already found out there there is an afterlife where all dead people still exist and are happy? Let the Nokkers have this plane of reality while the rest enjoys paradise.
If you haven't watched "Fantastic Children", don't talk about "best anime". Thank you.

This episode revealed a disturbing trait in Fushi's personality. A violent tendency. I know he was annoyed with the Mr. Black/Satoru, but pushing him onto the floor was going too far. Fushi was always such a gentle soul. What happened to him?

@basspig Fushi is not actually against violence what he doesn't like doing is inflicting pain. He explains this in this episode when Bon questions him on the fact that he has killed countless Nokers but is hesitating when it comes to Mimori because she is capable of feeling pain. Another issue is that he is having a hard time accepting that Satoru isn't the man in black anymore and therefore no longer has all the answers. He pushes him because he is being unhelpful and dismissive but then starts feeling pain from hitting the ground. This is him starting to understand that Satoru is human now.

@KingGarland Good analysis. I was just caught off guard by his loss of temper in that moment. My initial thought was Satoru is not a nokker, so why be so rough with him?
Later on, the way Fushi laughed about him, at first, I'm thinking "now he's acting like every other male anime character with an ego" but then I realized the context that he was poking fun at him because he knows the man in black so well and that this willful diminishment of his abilities was somehow funny to him.

Bruh, why is the author doing everything in her power to make Fushi so unlikeable? This show's MC is such an asshole right now.

And what on earth was that ending scene? Man, this arc is being such a trainwreck for real.

Only just realized Kusunoki voices Mizuha....perfection.
Fushi's going through so much trying to balance the fact that dangerous nokkers are back to ruin his "paradise", wanting to save face for Tonari and other companions by not letting them know, the fact that the new species of nokker can feel pain, and he can sense said pain when in proximity. Meanwhile, his creator, who had assisted him in the past, is steadily becoming the human child Satoru (who even has to relearn math).
Fake Mimori feeds the brother's masochist complexes, too, damn.
Yep, to an outsider like Sumika, Fushi just looks like an older boy bullying Satoru. He can't possibly reason why he laughs.
Mizuha gets her date with Fushi.
Fushi thinks he's doing well in having Mia, Oopa, and Uroy's bodies do what they couldn't when they were alive (paralleling what the new nokkers are doing). Tonari is the loser in the triangle. In her eyes, her friend's bodies were exploited by Fushi to win over Mizuha (Tonari had only just gotten around to accepting, as indicated by the feather on her wrist). Having to relive teenage life may be a factor in her reaction, but she's 100% in the right.
Fushi turning into Booze Man just to drink the sorrow of relationship problems away.
Looks like Big Brother reached his breaking point.

In this essay, I'll try to go easy on my boy Fushi, because I think he was misunderstood in this episode.

First of all, we need to remember that Black-Man was never affectionate toward Fushi. While Gugu’s family taught him how to be friendly and human, Black-Man rarely stepped in to help during moments of chaos. This pattern continues throughout the entire series. It's true that he cooperated at times, but he barely cared when Fushi was losing all of his memories to nokkers.

Regarding the meeting, we can't forget that Fushi never intended to enter a relationship with Mizuha. What we have here is an emotionally overwhelmed Fushi, trying to hide nokkers from his friends, and trying to cope with Mizuha. And yes — Fushi using the bodies of Tonari's friends to "fulfill her dreams" was a joke. Unlike us humans, Fushi doesn't have a sharpened critical sense. When he laughed at the dress, he had no idea that this would trigger negative feelings. For Fushi, laughing is simply the equivalent of happiness.

The emotions of pain and happiness that Fushi experiences are understood almost in binary. We've grown used to his human appearance, but borrowing the term from the previous ep, just like nokkers, our boy doesn't have "love".
Dubious and honest analysis from neonerd.

A truly disgusting chapter... How did this story transform from an epic adventure into a collection of the worst Japanese clichés and the most unpleasant aspects of our modern world?

Well, Mizuha getting a lot more lovesick of Fushi, as he grapples fighting against the Nokkers from Fake Mimori's end, though the Beholder (as Satoru) can only help weed off to the best of his abilities, just as Bon came to call off the fight. This, of course, is a problem if the Nokker continues to invade Fake Mimori from within, which Fushi must act fast. I almost feel sorry for Hirotoshi at this point though being subjected to his own manipulated sister's S&M tactics.

The date between Fushi and Mizuha being as nice as it is, altough Sumika did kind of ruined their date just being the overprotective "sister" of not just Satoru, but him as well whom he can evolve to as many forms that would put the once-dying girl at ease. And to say that Fushi did learn a lot in the human world, though transforming into the friends that Tonari once held dear (of Oopa, Uroy and Mia) who died in the Nokker attacks being quite the disgrace to be put up for romantic pursuits, this is a grave mistake.

Yelp lol, Hirotoshi just going around to flash himself in the night, though him looking for Fushi to request him for help to save Mimori, what's the deal with that?
