Grats to Sam on getting a new office lol. Nope she was not getting fired. And I do hope she can build a better future with her career.

There were some lowkey funny moments this episode, especially with Angela. I think Marshall has to be stronger as a person though, seem he still carries some guilt about what happened between him and Sam since the beginning of the season.

Doesn’t this whole reverse harem situation seem a bit sketchy to anyone else? She has three primary love interests; one’s her boss, one’s her male best friend and one’s the guy who’s jeopardized her entire future career.

Not sure why she needs to overclock the newly purchased laptop. But it's just one of hundred things that doesn't make sense in this anime.

I mean to be honest the only one I can really see her with is Marshall and I still don't see how it would happen at the moment.

@ajw215799 I'd say yes, but excluding the best friends (Link). I think that would naturally make sense, but other than that, the boss and a famous guy who played her game and jeopardised her career, who happened to move in next door, is very sketchy.

@uselessDM I don’t want to see her end up with Marshall because a, he has a girlfriend, and b, he’s behaved quite poorly to Sam.

This is one of those slice of life animes that's refreshing, no complex plot, just feels like a bunch of friends

I absolutely love that this anime is showcasing mental health issues so well. It's rare for any media to handle mental health issues in such a realistic and non-dehumanizing way.

because charles is actually helping in the development of sam's personality, so yea TEAM CHARLES!!because charles is actually helping in the development of sam's personality, so yea TEAM CHARLES!!

Your MMO character name is Marshmallow? Ok, it sort of fits, but I would die of the shame from something that cutesy! LOL

Didn't she just say she doesn't wanna be CEO? To talk to her father and move her into a management role without talking to her about it seems pretty arrogant. It's a good move for her professionally, but I think I'd have talked to her first.

There are pluses and minuses to all three of the harem men. Honestly I think a cool end would being like "you know what? This is too much hassle. I like being single" lol. Link seems the most reasonable choice, but I'd tell him he has to tone down that overprotectiveness if I were her. I'm not crazy about Charles and Marshall has a girlfriend. No need to be a homewrecker, lol

Yeah, the first thing I think of doing with a laptop is... overclocking it... (?)

Sam's WoWn't character sure demonstrated her DPS capability with a... single attack... (??)

I suppose it's appropriate that Marshall can't stop ruminating instead of replaying the (fucking) game. I know Sam's a big fan of his, but I don't think she'd mind if he didn't like it as long as he gave it a proper go. He'll obviously like it though.

The bit with the light during Angela and Link's scene was kinda funny. Feels like they'll end up together.

Loved the episode! First and foremost, we saw Samara get by promoted by Charles, congratulations to Samara. Secondly, the whole gang was playing World of Warcraft (the at-home version), getting pummeled by the boss monster, until Samara teleported to the group and casted Infinite Destruction.

Furthermore, she handed the role of the core obliterator to Ben, who immediately casted The Dragon Storm of Doom, summoning multiple dragons to devour the core and completely crush it. With the boss monster finally down, Link shouted at Ben to REPLAY RUMINATE, haha. Good game, as Samara said.

Sam thinking that she's being fired by her father's company, instead, is given quite the promotion of her own office room thanks to Charles anointing her and being his new assistant to progress the company further through marketing. That, along with the upgrades to her gear and clothing that's all provided by Charles, he expects nothing but professionalism from her. On the wayside, having Indigineer reverse the reviews on Sam's game is a tall order, though this is where the engineers come in to provide an alternate to that, as much as it is for Marshall considering to not hurt Sam's feelings again.

The few days later where Angela has returned to society, but is enveloped in darkness again for Link to save her sanity, that's truly the mark of a friendship. However, Marshall going to Sam's friends for advice, and in the same way of Sam meeting clients with Charles which leaves her clique with one man down, only to make it just nice with the raid to aid Marshall.

A gamer side and a business side, which one does Sam lean to more?

The light gag was nice, but I actually chuckled when Link yelled at Marshall through the headset to replay Ruminate.

Having Marshall join the raid was an interesting decision. I don't hate the idea, we already know he's played the game before quite a lot, but anyone that knows anything about MMOs knows you can't just appear midway through a dungeon battle and basically 1 shot a monster (Yes, Marshall did the finishing blow, whatever) that the rest of your party failed to defeat. It honestly insults my intelligence with how contrived the whole situation became.

Idk why people are complaining so much about the reverse harem situation. The boss thing is counteracted by Sam's dad literally marrying her mom when she was his secretary. Office fraternization is explicitly allowed at their workplace (even if her Dad is vehemently against it for his daughter). F my life. They cut out that explanation in the anime... That's originally part of her defense for why Lucy shouldn't be fired...

At least with Marshall he is repeatedly shown to be a good, caring guy. She's also one of his biggest fans too. He has no control over what his fans do and is very torn up about trying to make it right.

Finally, dating a close male friend is now considered a bad thing by some people? What reality do you all live in?

The promotion thing was explained in the source material too, but they cut that conversation short in the anime in favor of adding a cliffhanger with her thinking she got fired... After she tells Charles she doesn't want to be the CEO she explains she wants to be an indie developer and was hoping to get more business experience while working for her dad. Charles literally suggests making her his assistant to help her get that business experience she lacks and she accepts. But they also cut that out as well as a ton more subsequent conversations for the anime...

*Heavy Sigh*

Why do so many directors fail at what things they decide to cut when adapting something into an anime? Are they just high on their own supply with overestimating their abilities? So frustrating.

Sam is now an important character at her father's company, and it was planned by Mr. Jones

idk it feels logical to put his daughter at a big role so she can take the company with 100% knowing what she can do

idk but the scenes abt Link really feels like they are trying to let him be the most terrifying when he is really cute

and i don't want to talk abt the last scene how can anyone do this cringe without feeling anything wrong ?

So Sam didn't want to be CEO because of the pressure, and Charles gave him a more pressured post? I'm not sure that Sam is really ready for this!

Law join the guilde and see the true Sam so maybe he's gonna have fewer problems with Sam right now!

@Strahan the promotion is what really got to me in this episode. Charles is supposed to be a love interest but he is just so god awful. he interacts with Sam near-exclusively via abuses of power, including this.

if this were a more serious anime i would suspect he actually did this as a sort of reverse-psychological power play to make her realize just how unfit for the CEO role she is. shove her into a promotion she didn't apply for with no training, and then immediately take her out to a medium-stakes dinner with an important client. watch her fumble while you smooth talk. make her look bad in front of clients, make her feel like a little fish in a big pond at work, eventually push her out to pursue her game dev career, then have her put in a good word for him to the CEO and get him promoted further up the chain.

i'm also really surprised (and annoyed) that this story refuses to examine Sam's own privilege and abuse of power here, too. i was absolutely flabbergasted at the suggestion from her team to partner with Indigineer to make a Steam-esque platform for them just to help Sam out. no mention from anyone on her team that her promotion is more than a little sketch, that she got promoted via nepotism to a position that (as far as we know) was created for her (or at the very least was not open to internal/external applications) that she didn't even want, and that she's now making them work overtime to help her solve a personal beef with a game sales platform. if i was one of her coworkers i would be pissed that the daughter's CEO was allowed to make me work overtime because she wants her game dev career to work out.

it really is jarring how everyone in the story is completely, obsessively protective of and devoted to Sam. she has no antagonists in her life, and the seemingly sole life purpose of everyone around her is to make her life better. but it's hard to jive with this protectiveness when she's the daughter of a tech CEO working a lucrative job, with two highly financially successful men pursuing her, and who will face absolutely NO material consequence if her game dev career doesn't work out. she's a nice girl, and i don't hate her, but i just can't bring myself to root for her one way or the other. i just don't want her to end up with Charles because he's a creep lmao

Link hasn't quite convinced me from the start. I don't think he's in love with Sam, just grateful, and that doesn't go beyond a simple friendship. I hope he doesn't play with her feelings or get her hopes up too high. He'll probably end up with Angela (she's been through a lot, and he's the typical protector). I think he sees Sam as a weak girl he needs to protect, someone he has little in common with (and that makes them get in each other's way), and above all, and most importantly, I think he sees her as a weak woman, which will inevitably lead to stagnation because, in my opinion, he doesn't even see her as an independent woman. Relationships have to be more than just hugs, kisses, and "protection."

I just hope Sam breaks up with Charles, PLEASE; he cares about her, wants her to grow professionally and in her self-confidence, he helps her (not by doing everything for her, but by giving her the push she needs to stand on her own two feet), he's a more mature man, he looks out for her well-being without seeing her as overly weak, he notices every detail... I think he's the one who can support her the most (as a partner), who will be by her side every step of the way (by her side, but without doing everything for her and without seeing her as weak), who will remind her how amazing she is, who can help her reach her full potential, and above all, and most importantly, with whom she could have an equal relationship as two adults.
