Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko

Makoto Niwa meticulously tallies the amount of positive and negative youthful experiences he engages in as if to grade his own life. When his parents go overseas, he moves to a new town to live with his aunt, welcoming the change and ready for a fresh start. However, as ordinary as he had imagined his adolescence to be, he could never have taken the existence of an enigmatic long-lost cousin into account.

Upon moving into his aunt's house, he discovers the cousin he never knew about: Erio Touwa. Despite being Makoto's age, she couldn't be more different: Erio chooses to wrap herself in a futon all day rather than to go to school. She even claims to be an alien, and with a speech pattern and personality to back it up, any chance of Makoto's dreamt-of normal life is instantly tossed out the window.

As he meets a string of other eccentric girls in town, Makoto must face the possibility of seeing his youth points in the red. However, he might be surprised by how thrilling an abnormal youth can be.

Denpa is a fun anime to watch. It's not bad and not great. If I were to rewatch it, I'd probably forget some characters exist because of how bland they could be.
That's not the case for the main girl Erio, her mom Meme, and Ryuuko. You can tell more care went into these characters. But anyway, this anime had really nice art and it just reads as something people enjoyed to make. It's a very calm story with some element of mystery. But like many have said, the mystery itself kinda goes nowhere. That's fine for me. I was more interested in seeing the ... daily lives of these characters anyway.
I have mixed feelings though, some art is nice, but sometimes you get some fan service shots. Either way, I loved the outro song and the general kawaii desu from this show.
8/10 would rewatch when I'm having a bad day.

Mixed Feelings

This series starts off with an interesting premise & potential in Episodes 1-4, but after that, largely diverges into pointless filler moments. It doesn't get back to more interesting plot elements until the followup special aka episode 13 and by that time the series has ended. The questions you really want answered like 'What did Erio forget?' or 'Who/What is Elliot?' are never addressed and the light novels are pretty bad at answering this as well. Beautifully designed and interesting enough characters in the series, but sadly their potential is wasted in go nowhere activities like Baseball and Basketball games that feel like pointless filler. ... It looked like the plot of 'K-Pax' or 'Fire In The Sky' with Moe Anime girls, but ended up being largely a wash in the 2nd and 3rd acts of the series plot arc.

I hate Touwa Erio. Even though she’s not even the primary focus of the story despite literally being the title character and the entire OP being about her, being obviously the main girl like Sora in Yosuga no Sora’s adaptation… she has no development or real motive besides being disgusting and annoying. She is not charming whatsoever, and I can say with confidence I’ve never hated a character this much. She’s DISGUSTING and annoying. Imagine a baby flailing and whining and getting food all over itself, but for some reason that baby has to be sexy with feet scenes every few minutes. That’s Touwa Erio.

The ... art is good, the sound and OP is solid, but the actual plot, writing, and humor? Absolute repetitive slop with no real motive, and it sucks as a slow slide-of-life story too. Don’t waste your time with this.
