Onmyou Kaiten Re:Birth

Teenage delinquent Takeru Narihira has been having a recurring dream where he is chased by monsters, only for a mysterious girl to always rescue him. Having fallen in love with her, he promises her on their 1,999th meeting that he will be the one to save her the next time. But a motorcycle accident sends Takeru to Denji Heian-kyo—an alternate version of Japan's ancient capital with futuristic technology and the home of the girl from his dreams, Tsukiyima, who does not recognize him.

However, a black mist soon descends upon the city, petrifying citizens and unleashing monsters called oni. Only the so-called onmyouji—sorcerers who wield mystical powers and pilot magical "shikigami" suits—can fight them. When the mist returns, Takeru discovers that he has strange transformation powers and can resist the oni. But he and Tsukimiya are ultimately killed, and Takeru awakens in Denji Heian-kyo once again, this time two weeks before the appearance of the mist. Swearing to protect Tsukimiya at all costs, Takeru vows to become an onmyouji and change the future.

I dont wanna ramble too much, spoil anything or go into detail. All I am gonna say is, its not a 10/10 anime, it has a fast pace to it, which I actually liked, but it had a story that had me hooked from start to end. I dont like characters with weird hair like the mc, it felt like a turn off at first, but I got used to it, I am not a big fan of red that was why. I was reluctant to watch it, but I make it a point to atleast watch the first 2eps and I think whether this ... anime seems like a turn off or not, you should atleast give it a try, atleast ep 1.

Mixed Feelings

It's well done, as in overcooked. There were what? 5 Nani?! You think you understood the plot, then bang something else happens that changes your world views. I can usually predict the plot of almost all the series I watch now, this show challenged me. Music I didn't pay attention to, but the sound FX guys were going HAM. bruh I swear they mixed in subsonic frequencies for all the explosions. My house was shaking! Most of the combat was 3D CGI, but honestly it fit the vibe so not complaints. I can't fully recommend this show though to new peeps, since it's too convoluted. ... For me it was very entertaining.

I don't hate this anime. It's not great, but I can definitely see the type of person it would appeal to. I wouldn't be surprised if this is someone's first anime, and if this was your entry point then I don't think it would be that bad. The beginning is actually kind of interesting. It's a unique Isekai where the main male character, Takeru Narihira, who is a dilenquent but promises to protect a girl he just met, randomly travels into the past. There's already some confusion here because a girl in the past looks exactly like the girl he ... made his promise to in the present even though the present day is modern day Japan and the past in the Feudal era. There's also like 2 or 3 more time travel incidents in the series after this which makes the confusion even worse. I really don't like being confused when I'm watching an anime. But it's a level of confusion that if I liked the rest of it I don't think it would have ruined the show for me. The biggest problem is that the characters are just really cliche, shallow, and uninteresting. I don't think most of them are particularly unlikable, but they are unoffensive in the worst possible way. The animation is not incredible but is better than I expected, it has mechs in a Feudal setting which I love the idea of but not much is done with it unfortunately.
