Well, I had been keeping up with the weekly episodes, however, I felt somewhat guilty and “ashamed.” I believe I was afraid of being judged for appreciating a work like this, mostly “simple,” instead of watching something labeled as “intellectual”—what a silly, futile ... line of thought. Anyway, I ended up rewatching the initial episodes, along with those that had remained with me... and with that, I say that With You and the Rain is, at first glance, a simple slice of life, just as it itself suggests and intends to be, with few conflicts, a calm pace, everyday scenes... however, reducing the work to only that would be to ignore what it truly offers, which is an experience in itself. There is something deeply comforting in the way the work portrays silence, solitude, and routine. Basically, being alone does not mean being empty; silence does not represent absence, but rather the presence of oneself, of one’s own thoughts, of the moment... routine, in turn, is neither oppressive nor boring, it becomes a shelter, a gentle rhythm that slows down and calms the mind, leaving you at peace with yourself.
The setting, in particular, pleases me greatly; the rainy atmosphere is central to this feeling that the work proposes. The rain is not just any backdrop, it carries its own emotional language... it envelops the scenes in a contemplative, in some way meditative atmosphere, inviting us to simply exist alongside the characters. A very striking moment for me was one from the early episodes: Fuu was bathing in a bathtub, with the lights off, the sound of water falling outside, while silence took over the room... time seemed suspended, creating a rare and welcoming peace. The great merit of the work lies, without a doubt, in its subtlety. Ame to Kimi to never forces messages at any moment, it does not explain feelings, it does not dramatize everyday life, but that does not mean they are not present there. It trusts the viewer, trusting that small gestures, pauses, and silences are enough... and indeed they are. That is what is incredible: there is something somewhat philosophical in all this simplicity, the idea that living does not need to be always intense, painful, or extraordinary to be meaningful.
In a world often trapped in cycles of suffering, urgency, and constant stimulation, this work functions as a breath, a sigh. Reinforcing the idea that peace can also be deep, and not only suffering; that slowing down is by no means running away, but rather caring... that stepping out, even if only for a few episodes, from the vicious cycle of pain may be necessary to find oneself. But of course, With You and the Rain is definitely not a work for every moment, yet perhaps it is a work that everyone should watch at least once, especially when life feels too heavy. Not to blindly search for answers, but to remember what it is like to simply be... to get to know oneself and reflect calmly. It does have some silly scenes at times, but it is comforting—and that is exactly what matters: experiencing being yourself, away from pain for a while.

Bom, eu estava acompanhando o semanais, porém, me senti de certa forma culpado e "envergonhado". Creio que tinha medo de ser julgado por estar aprecisando uma obra como essa, majoritariamente "simples", ao invés de ver algo datado de "intelectual", que bobagem de pensamento fútil. Enfim peguei para rever os episódios iniciais, adjunto dos que me ficaram remanescentes... e com isso, digo que With You and the Rain é, à primeira vista, um slice of life simples, igual ele próprio já sugere e pretende ser, com poucos conflitos, ritmo calmo, cenas cotidianas... todavia, reduzir a obra apenas a isso seria ignorar o que ela realmente oferece, que é uma experiência em si.

Existe algo profundamente reconfortante na forma como a obra retrata o silêncio, a solidão e a rotina. Basicamente, estar só não significa estar vazio; o silêncio não representa ausência, mas sim a presença de si mesmo, dos próprios pensamentos, do momento... a rotina, por sua vez, não é opressiva nem entediante, ela se torna um abrigo, um ritmo suave que desacelera e acalma a mente, lhe deixa em paz consigo mesmo. A ambientação particularmente me apetece muito, o clima chuvoso é central para essa sensação que a obra propões, a chuva não é apenas um cenário qualquer, ela carrega uma linguagem emocional própria... envolve as cenas em uma atmosfera contemplativa, de certa forma meditatova, convidando-nos a simplesmente existir junto com as personagens. Um momento bem marcante para mim, foi uma dentre os episódios iniciais, a Fuu estava se banhando em uma banheira, com a luz apagada, o som da água caindo lá fora, enquanto o silêncio tomava conta do recinto... o tempo pareceu suspenso criando uma paz rara e acolhedora.

O grande mérito da obra está, sem dúvidas alguma, na sutileza. Ame to Kimi to não força mensagens em momento algum, não explica sentimentos, não dramatiza o cotidiano, mas não quer dizer que elas não estão presentes ali. Ela confia no espectador, confia que pequenos gestos, pausas e silêncios são o suficientes... e de fato são. Isso que é incrível, há algo de certa forma filosófica nessa simplicidade toda, a ideia de que viver não precisa ser sempre intenso, doloroso ou extraordinário para ser significativo. Em um mundo frequentemente preso a ciclos de sofrimento, urgência e estímulo constante, essa obra funciona como um respiro, um suspiro. Reforçando a idéia de que a paz também pode ser profunda, e não apenas o sofrimento, que desacelerar não é de maneira alguma fugir, mas sim cuidar... que sair, ainda que por alguns episódios, do ciclo vicioso da dor pode ser necessário para encontrar-se. Mas é óbvio, definitivamente With You and the Rain não é uma obra para todos os momentos, mas talvez seja uma obra que todos deveriam assistir ao menos uma vez, especialmente quando a vida pesar demais. Não para encontrar cegamente por respostas, mas para lembrar como é simplesmente estar... se auto conhecer e refletir com calma. Ele tem sim cenas bobinhas em grandes momentos, mas é reconfortante e é exatamente isso que importa, experimentar ser você mesmo, longe de dor por algum tempo.

Fuji herself hints at something deeper—creative stagnation, loneliness, or emotional detachment—but these ideas are only lightly touched upon.
