Project Voltage* is a must-watch for any fan of Pokémon, Hatsune Miku, and especially both.
I am fully aware of my bias. I have been a fan of Hatsune Miku since middle school and a fan of Pokémon my entire life. They are two of my most favoritest things in the entire universe. However, who else is the target audience for this but people such as myself?
Some songs are better than others, but that's a matter of personal taste. They got together so many talented Vocaloid producers to make songs about what it means to love Pokémon, sampling in the most iconic songs from Pokémon's OST
...
and building narratives and visuals that pull from the long-running lore and worldbuilding of the Pokémon franchise. The songs are beautiful to the ears and the videos and beautiful to the eyes. They are teeming with love and appreciation for both Miku as well as the Pokémon franchise, and I have to admit, as a superfan, it made me somewhat emotional.
My favorite songs (MV included) of the original songs are The Pokémon Inside My Heart, Electricity Forecast, Volt Tackle, Awoo, Eoon Ticket, After Epochs, Mellomelloid, Champion, and Go! Team Bidoof
Out of Project Voltage's second installment* (Project Voltage High), my favorites are Crossroad and OOPARTS
Love, love, love PJVT always. If I have one one criticism, I wish the official 18 types designs for Miku were used in the MVs more.
*Project Voltage features two installments. The first consisted of 23 songs (including remixes), but only 14 of them are listed on MAL due to MAL's arbitrary rules. You can read more about it in the forum section. The second installment is not featured on MAL at all as of present.
