Boku to Roboko

Robotic OrderMaids are popping up in every household, and 10-year-old Bondo Taira has found out that his two closest friends—Motsuo and Gachi Gorilla—have OrderMaids too. Motsuo, in particular, owns Meico, a beautiful robot that gives excellent massages and serves drinks with a smile. Jealous of his friend, Bondo convinces his mother to get him an OrderMaid, hoping for a similar experience.

However, to Bondo's surprise, the maid that appears outside of his door is incredibly muscular and clumsy enough to destroy a house when completing simple chores. Going by the name Roboko, this new robot is the exact opposite of what Bondo wanted. But despite that, Bondo, together with his friends, learns that there is more to Roboko than they could ever expect.

Preliminary (20/28 eps)

This is my first review on MAL and I was prompted to write it for this anime since it's sadly underrated. I must clarify that I never had the chance to read the manga, so this review is not comparative with the source material but only related to the anime itself. Being a three minute for episode kind of show, it requires attention to details because the jokes are so fast paced that you can miss them. Knowing japanese probably helps a lot but still, I can't understand other reviewers writing that the "jokes don't have the time to land". They actually land with perfect ... timing, and usually it's not only what's said, but also what's being shown. The anime is full of references not only to the medium itself, but also from the videogame world. It's a fun ride and since the episodes are three minutes long, you can binge watch it and have a great time.

Personally, it's a 9/10 experience: fun, fast and quirky. If you know the anime and videogame world, you will find it really enjoyable. Don't let a "not recommended" review stop you from watching this show.

Preliminary (6/28 eps)

I am reading the manga and that is a funny shounen-ish child anime that use to be ridiculous so many times. I have not expected this kind of adaptation since the episodes are pretty short and there is a lot of content that would be enough for like a 12-episode show.

This adaptation got only 2-3 minute episodes far not enough to get involved in the Boku to Roboko's sense of humor. Because the whole humor is based on somewhen childish but more like gag humor and it is the engine of the whole Roboko. There is no real story in the manga, mostly just ... random situations which could be weird af.

As a manga reader, it is short though, but it is quite okay. I was laughing my ass off even at the end of the first episode. If the same amount of content would be in a whole 20 minutes episode like in a normal season, I would not recommend Boku to Roboco in its current state. But since it is only 2 minutes per episode, I think it is worth a try.

The anime is a super rushed adaption being that the episodes are 3 minutes long, besides content being omitted a lot of the punchlines barley get time to land. Even for a gag manga that's pretty cruel but other then that the animation is good
I feel the voice actors don't sound like their characters except Bondo, they all sound too grown up for playing some kids.
Roboco is voiced by by Shun Matsuo so I guess that makes it funny but not really

Just read the manga, unless the anime becomes a normal 22 minute anime this adaption is just not it
