"Kings" are individuals who have been bestowed with incredible supernatural powers and granted the ability to recruit others into their clans. Protecting the lives and honor of their clansmen is an integral part of the Kings' duties. After a video depicting the heinous murder of a Red Clansman spreads virally, the unassuming student Yashiro Isana is accused of homicide. Now, a manhunt is underway for his head, bringing him into contact with the infamous "Black Dog" Kurou Yatogami—a skilled swordsman and martial artist determined to follow the wishes of his late master, the Seventh King.

Meanwhile, the current Red King, Mikoto Suou, faces his own imminent demise as the search for Yashiro narrows. But during Yashiro's struggle to prove his innocence, a greater conspiracy is unraveling behind the scenes; clouds begin to appear in his memory, and close friends start to question his very existence. What began as a simple murder is now leading towards a full blown war between Kings with the very fate of the world at stake.

This will be a simple review of my favourite anime franchise, so I'll be concise.

This anime is seriously such a vibe... It has amazing visuals, an amazing and quite comfy atmosphere like no other, phenomenal OSTs, charismatic and badass characters, plot twists, groundbreaking action, an ACTUAL good MC in Shiro, etc.

It's a very unique series that doesn't have annoying tropes that you tend to see in many anime nowadays.

Honestly, the ONLY flaw this series has is the fan service, but at the same time, there's for both the male and female audience (more for the female side 100% with it's very attractive male cast), so ... it balances it out. Also, not that common or distracting.

So, yeah watch this masterpiece. It's unbelievably great despite it being quite old at this point.

Oh, and Yata Misaki is the GOAT btw and best character 🗣🔥

Mixed Feelings

k is not good. it's not good and that's okay.

the story as a premise is pretty good but the way they executed it left me with more questions than anything.

the art is really good, i love how long all the characters are.

the characters themselves save the show, without them i wouldn't have watched it, that being said they're not incredible and definitely are generic (although some of them are a lot better than others-- saruhiko, misaki, mikoto, etc), i still love them though.

the music is hilarious, something horrible could be happening and they'll have dubstep playing in the background.

the fanservice is actually absurd, but it's ... so absurd that it crosses over the line of disgusting into hilarious. but hey, they don't sexualize the little kid so kudos to them for that.

overall it's really not that good of an anime but i love it very much. would i recommend it? no not at all, but it's fun at the very least.

This anime is not outright terrible, it's just very boring. It has an interesting premise, a unique art style, and interesting character design. I wanted to like it so I watched the whole season, but I never got invested. The story was bland and uninteresting at best and confusing at worst. The stakes and drama never felt genuine, and I was very lost throughout multiple episodes. If the audience was given a little more clarification, the characters had a little more depth, or if the audience felt more of a personal investment in the stakes, it would be much more compelling. Overall, it's not the ... worst thing I've watched, but I won't be thinking about it again. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, and I wouldn't rewatch it.
