Synopsis

Only during autumn, a mysterious boy can be found on a small mountain. Like the tree he dwells inside, the tall, young man has dark blue hair and a calming presence. As luck would have it, a little girl named Akino stumbles into him. The boy tells her his name, Konoha, and shares with her that he is a tree spirit with an intangible body.

Soon enough, a pure and unique bond forms between the two. Every year during autumn, Akino comes to the mountain and stands in front of the tree, reuniting with Konoha after a seemingly endless wait. However, despite their unshakable love for one another, fate may not be as kind as they are hoping.

Beautiful. One of the best one-shots I've ever read.

This is a story about a little girl named Akino who went up to the mountain in the autumn with her father one day. When she went up to the mountain, Akino saw leaves from a tree that were BLUE. Even the tree itself was blue. She met a boy named Konoha, whose spirit lies within the tree. Akino continues to see him, but she can only see him in the autumn, for that is the only season he comes out.

Well this is my first time reading a one shot manga so I'm not too sure about how to review it so I'll keep it basic and short.

The story is about a girl named Akino. As she is visiting the mountains with her father one day during Autumn, she finds some blue leaves and then, she comes across with a blue tree. There, she meets a boy named Konoha whose spirit lives in that blue tree. Akino learns that she can only see Konoha during Autumn so she waits for Autumn to come each year as she starts hating other seasons.

Heavily influenced by Hotarubi no Mori e (which came out 5.5 years earlier), and the similarities were so strong that they completely ruined my reading experience.

I’m genuinely disappointed. With so many parallels, I’m not even sure if this qualifies as an original work. My guess is that, since the mangaka started as a doujinshi artist, she couldn’t help but be overly influenced.

Well, it was ruined for me. Pure one-shots are rare. And highly rated ones are even rarer. So, naturally, I was hyped. But…

It felt more like a rehash than a tribute. I kept waiting for a twist or unique element that never came.
