My 2DS since last update (not the one in this article) keeps “turning off” for a minute and then resuming. Sucks because I was using mine every day as a podcast player with the built in sound app to listen to Critical Role on walks.
This latest update, which I haven’t gotten yet but I’m warning all y’all of, just seems spiteful on Nintendo’s part.
Overall I’ve already regretted trying to mod it, even though I support the idea of modding your consoles. It’s such a mindflip of compartmentalization being into FOSS for work while also trying to enjoy some Nintendo games.

Supergood post on #blorb by Bastionland guy! I didn’t see this until now, more than a year later. Really great to see blorb explained by someone who gets it and who writes better & clearer than me 🫡
“In 2019, four of the seven SI base units specified in the International System of Quantities were redefined in terms of natural physical constants, rather than human artifacts such as the standard kilogram.”
I missed the memo on this. Pretty nifty ♥

“This study established that Indigenous peoples were living and interacting with the horse before the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 CE, which was the earliest date accepted by Western science.”
Feels great to see some downsides of edgelordery of the eighties music scene being explicitly acknowledged:
“We thought the major battles over equality and inclusiveness had been won, and society would eventually express that, so we were not harming anything with contrarianism, shock, sarcasm or irony. If anything, we were trying to underscore the banality, the everyday nonchalance toward our common history with the atrocious, all while laboring under the tacit mistaken notion that things were getting better.”

Best baseball boardgames…?
I loved this comedy book series as a kid, around 1990 or so. Trope-tastic but hilarious with clear characterizarion and break-neck pacing. Author was just 14 when the first book was published, 12 when he wrote it.
Curious thread on how the class-affecting cargo-cult bourgeois developed obsession with Míng (大明) era porcelaine, in both valuation and discernment, (as opposed to the contemporary Qīng (大清) porcelaine
