Geordie Gray The Australian Dec 15
The whole thing is so outrageously assured – clever but unshowy dialogue, confident visual language. And that’s before you even get to the stonking performances from its leads... Go to Full Review

My struggle with this was that it felt very, very, very familiar to me. Go to Full Review

The twists can be pulpy and a little melodramatic, but you’ll never tire of watching Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys face off against each other. Go to Full Review

You kind of wish Danes could give Aggie a little more restraint and depth, but it’s too late now. If nothing else, "Beast" could be a good palate cleanser if you’re overdosing on sticky-sweet holiday programming. Go to Full Review
Ana Yorke PopMatters Dec 4
A metafictional narrative about narratives, written and oral, fictional and real, prepared for an audience or nested deep within oneself, The Beast in Me elegantly reveals some nasty truths about our most debased impulses. Go to Full Review
James Delingpole The Spectator Dec 4
What keeps you enthralled above all is the riveting battle of wits between Aggie and Jarvis. It’s like watching a duel between a mongoose and a cobra, only one where you keep changing your mind as to which one is the real snake. Go to Full Review

Kyle M 17h Despite some "Modern Audience" cringe nonsense- Aggie is a lesbian, because OF COURSE SHE IS, the hacker who is "twice as good as anyone at the FBI" is a black woman, because OF COURSE SHE IS, this is actually a pretty good show. I really hope that the day finally arrives when we can have characters who aren't define by the sex they have, or how many DEI checkboxes they tick, but this is still worth watching. See more Whaley T. @whaley 1d I have always been such a Claire Danes fan but I felt like I could almost see her acting in this. See more James J @JamesdotJ 2d The first 6 episodes were good enough to keep me watching, with the relationship between Aggie and Nile becoming deeper, despite her suspicions and ongoing contact with the FBI. You might find yourself becoming a little conflicted as to whether or not you like Nile, yourself. It all reaches a crescendo in episode 6, which leaves you on a cliffhanger for the last 2 episodes. That's when things go south: the narrative jumps between the build-up to Madison's death, Aggie's life before the crash, Nile's family's relationship with the FBI - spliced with scenes from the present. The tension gets a little bit lost, with the narrative becoming disjointed, somewhat predictable, and all a bit cliché. That's nothing compared to the final episode, which is a cop out; bad guy confesses all (for no good reason, other than lazy script writing), unaware that he's being recorded. Pfff, yawn! I wanted to turn it off about halfway through episode 7, but, having committed thus far, forced myself to watch. See more Pablo M @Goalie50 3d This is soooo redo of a ton of stuff. Claire Danes is the same as in homeland. Overly dramatic, smartest person on screen, blah, blah, blah. Overacting, long, at least out felt that way. Twists are non existent. Actually about 4 episodes too long. Should’ve been a 1:45 movie. I’m trying to understand the high ratings and Claire D love. With sooo many other platforms and series, you can do much better. Skip this one. See more David L. @leechtravel 3d Meh. Not well scripted. Decent acting by the leads but outside of that, too formulaic See more Richard D 4d This had potential but sadly it was just another girl boss outsmarting the evil white guy with some LGBT thrown in. So lets recap...the assistant, who cheated on her boss with her husband, ends up marrying the man after the wife allegedly kills herself. She puts her head in the sand because now she's living in a huge house and has lots of money. She gets pregnant, then betrays her husband by recording him confessing the murders to her after she begged him to tell her. Last i check was wife/husband communication is privileged but who cares so long as the women get what they want. The mistress who betrayed her friend then married her husband gets to keep the money, house ext...The lesbian writer who couldn't write inspired by her neibour to write again, she got the revenge she wanted of the kid who killed her son now was dead and her hands stayed clean. So all the girls are all happy so all that's left is for the evil rich white guy to get stabbed and killed in prison. See more Read all reviews
