Your messy middle could be your competitive edge. Desiree Gruber, founder and CEO of brand agency Full Picture, says the "messy middle" isn't something to hide. “That’s where the emotion is, where the connection [is], and why we root for you.” Embracing your setbacks, she adds, turns your journey into a hero’s story. The worst thing you can do is “make it seem easier than it was.” “Everyone has their own dream,” Desiree says. “When they hear yours, they can relate to it a little bit more and champion you.” How will you own your “messy middle” to build connections? 🚀Astronauts, rock stars, presidents; for generations, these were the careers kids dreamed of. But today, Gen Alpha has a new top dream job: content creator. 🎥 If that makes you scoff, don’t be so quick to dismiss this booming industry. The creator economy and influencer marketing are now multi-billion dollar industries reshaping how consumers navigate the world. And with young audiences spending more and more time each year on social media apps, the industry’s impact is still growing. “Influencers have really changed the digital landscape in so many ways,” content creator and author Eli Rallo says. “It’s a new form of entertainment.” Yet despite the glamorous facade of the industry, Eli says there are a lot misconceptions about being a content creator. While influencers publicly promote displays of their success, the behind-the-scenes work of the industry is rarely spotlighted. “It’s hard to succeed now,” Eli says. “And I think it’s because we’re not helping, we’re not offering a helping hand.” Eli wants young people who aspire to be content creators to understand the ins and outs of the industry; the business smarts, constant strategy, and trade-offs in privacy that viral success requires.

If your brand doesn't know "why" it exists, your customers won't either. “What is the purpose of the brand? What is the North Star?" asks Richard Dickson, CEO of Gap Inc. "Nobody needs another something. Why your brand, why your product?" Gap Inc., home to Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy and Athleta, has endured by doing what many can’t: connecting their origin stories to what matters now. "That is a playbook that is not so easy, but ultimately when you get it right, it becomes the flywheel and creates growth." Which brands do you think have nailed their “why”? Human creativity isn’t going anywhere. "AI is a great thought starter, but it's not a replacement for human thought, human ideas, human creativity," says Andrea Glenn, CEO of Ledger Bennett. For Andrea, the real power of AI is in freeing people up to focus on what matters most. "I’d love the idea that more people in our agency can do more of what they love and less of what they don't love because AI can do the things they don't enjoy doing every day." Creativity, problem-solving, and imagination remain the differentiators. AI just clears the way. How do you see the balance between AI and creativity playing out in your work? Host, Hello Monday with Jessi Hempel | Senior Editor at Large @ LinkedIn

When I was in college, I failed economics. The concepts felt abstract — elasticity, market efficiency — like math problems disconnected from real life. Years later, as a business reporter, I finally understood: economics is just people. It’s how we make choices, how we create, and how we connect. On Hello Monday this week, Kyla Scanlon helps us see that. She breaks down what she calls the “vibecession” — that disconnect between the data that says the economy is fine and the feelings that tell us something’s off. And she reminds us that if economics is about people, the way forward starts with solving people’s problems: housing, childcare, elder care, affordability. This conversation will leave you seeing money — and maybe even the economy — a little differently. 🎥 YouTube: https://lnkd.in/gwbUM5rY   🎧 Apple Podcasts: https://lnkd.in/gbApx_SR   🎧  Spotify: https://lnkd.in/gtptWAGA #HelloMonday #Economy #Work #Money #KylaScanlon #LinkedInNews

  • The real magic of Comic Con isn’t the costumes, it’s the people behind them. One cosplayer told us in San Diego: "You don’t need one single mentor. You need a mentor for your specific job field. You need a mentor for you family and relationships. You need a mentor for where you want to go next in life.” Proof that wisdom can show up anywhere if you’re listening for it. Heading to New York Comic Con this weekend? Hear any great advice? Drop it in the comments.

  • Career advice, but make it cosplay.  👉 “Check your rejection sensitivity.”  👉 “Your attitude will take you further than your skills.”  👉 “Don’t ask for permission to be who you are.” If you run into a cosplayer at New York Comic Con this weekend, don’t just compliment the costume... their advice might be the real showstopper. Where have you found your most unexpected career wisdom? Share in the comments.

  • You need to be courageous to be decisive. Shelley Stewart III, senior partner at McKinsey & Company, has seen it himself. If you’re looking to lead, he says, “The reality is you're gonna face difficult decisions in business.” When facing these tough calls, Shelley argues courage is key, guiding you to: 1️⃣ Act with conviction 2️⃣ Act based on the facts 3️⃣ Think long term for your institution and society These three components, Shelley emphasizes, combine into “purpose-driven leadership,” which he says is all about “taking a holistic impact frame as you think about decisions.” What’s a courageous decision you’ve made to lead with purpose?
