Bourtange 2010 II
Een van de vele harnassen, musketten en een deel van maquette. Voor zo ver ik het kon bekijken komt het wapentuig uit een museum in Emden.

Musketten, roeren en snaphanen ~ Muskets and other firearms
Kort bezoek aan Deslegte en met drie boekjes weer terug over hetzelfde thema: vuurwapens uit de 17e en 18e eeuw. De titels spreken wel voor zich. Toch bijzonder dat Deslegte zijn 2e hands collectie niet on-line heeft.

A short visit to one of the local second hand bookshops ended up with three books on 17th and 18th century firearms. Titles say it all, the dutch book is called 'Muskets, arquebusses and pistols'.

17e eeuwse degens ~ 17th century swords
In het boek van Carasso (p.231) zijn diverse wapens afgebeeld, zoals deze ruiterdegen, bekend staand onder de naam 'Epée Wallonne'. De Fransen namen het over van de Staatsen in 1679. Het staal komt uit Solingen en het wapen werd in de Nederlanden geassembleerd.
Deze wapens zijn begin 18e eeuw en komen uit het arsenaal van de schutterij van Amsterdam. Het korte wapen werd waarschijnlijk gebruikt bij schermlessen.

Three swords form the Carasso book. The first one is a cavalry sword, called 'Epée Wallonne' or Walloon sword and the French adopted this weapon from the States' army in 1679 and the name comes from the place where they met it the most. (I wonder why they didn't call it Flemish sword..).
The second and third sword comes from the arsenal of the city of Amsterdam and they are decendents from the first sword, being from a slight later period. The sword number three (the short one) was probably used for fencing lessons.
