Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai

Kirino Kousaka embodies the ideal student with equally entrancing looks. Her grades are near perfect, and to cover her personal expenses, she works as a professional model alongside her best friend Ayase Aragaki, who abhors liars and all things otaku. But what Ayase doesn't know is that Kirino harbors a deep, entrenched secret that will soon be brought to light.

At home one day, Kyousuke, Kirino's perfectly average brother, stumbles upon an erotic game that belongs to none other than his seemingly flawless little sister. With her reputation at stake, Kirino places a gag order on her sibling while simultaneously introducing him to the world of eroge and anime. Through Kirino, Kyousuke encounters the gothic lolita Ruri Gokou and the bespectacled otaku Saori Makishima, thus jump-starting an entirely new lifestyle. But as he becomes more and more involved in his little sister's secret life, it becomes that much harder to keep under wraps.

A pleasant surprise. Was expecting more or less the common ecchi anime meant to attract guys with a little sister complex, but this anime is a little more than that, it's a love letter to otaku culture. Though I wish some aspects and points were explored more in depth, the message of the show shines through nonetheless: that this hobby that we all have is not wrong, but simply a part of who we are. The characters are nothing special, same for the plot as we follow Kirino and her misadventures. It might be generic but I still found myself invested enough to have a ... good experience. All in all I believe everybody should give this anime a shot.

Mixed Feelings

OreImo is an anime where one of the main characters is obsessed with siscon visual novels and tries to share this forbidden love with her older brother. And he helps her do all sorts of things in this hobby space despite their father, who is not supportive of such things.

Now the anime takes an implicit stand that such a hobby is not a bad thing for a person to be engrossed in. And my answer is no, being obsessed with anime/manga and siscon visual novels in particular is not a noble or good hobby. It's a hobby waste of time and money that is inferior ... to a great many productive and/or more intelligent hobbies.

So I disagree with that point. Hardcore anime watchers are really just losers who can't find a better hobby.

PS: Each episode in S1 and S2 has a different ending, which is very interesting. I particularly liked S2E12's ending song, Omou Koto.

Ive been stewing on what to write for this review for a long time... this show, its community and most of all its fans severely and potently confuse me. I hated this show it was a wreck and most importantly ive been sent down a never ending rabbit hole of ITS FUCKING AUTHOR, he is an anomaly, the world center for incest loving perverts, and i cant see any POSSIBLE REASON anyone would watch this unless to TORTURE AWAY THEIR SENSE OF PRIDE.

i was embarrassed to watch this, not because the show was pervy or some sister-fucking train-wreck but simply because it has FANS?!?!?! ... Quite frankly, this show has nothing going for it, it is a show for fans of eroge, to think about making eroge while self-inserting themself into kyousukes position who IS LIVING OUT THE PLOT OF AN EROGE. it sucks, so bad, let me be frank, id rather watch this than a boring dredge of shonen slop like fist of the north star but that is just because at-least i can make fun of it. The writing is dogshit, the characters are of no essence,the dialogue feels groggy an monotonous and the story is stagnant as a swamp; in fact, i could sum up every character in under 2 sentences and it would fitting enough as a full description, in fact i will:

.Kousaka (the bitch) Kirino- prodogy pervert tsundere who is little sister, who likes little sisters?!?! how cooky crazy zany!!!!!!!

.Kyousuke Kousaka - the only vaguely dynamic character, writer self insert "isnt a siscon" but is definitely a siscon, just a loser for the watchers to relate with.

. kuroneko - shy Lolita chunibyo, not even a good one at that, side love interest obviously not going to be "the choice". just a badly done kuudere.

.Ayase Aragaki - shame kink girl

.Manami Tamura - literally fucking no one

.Saori Makishima- has best arc, least annoying character and honestly a breath of fresh air, just an essentric otaku

That's it, for a show that is known for its "interesting character archetype interaction there is a surprising lack of archetypes and those that are done are mediocre at best.

art is good but not good enough to compensate.
soundtrack is basic and unremarkable.

better than nothing, less than something and i`m too far in the rabbit hole to back out... wish for my survival please!
