Abstract

Device (10) for labelling articles (42), in particular liquid containers, with labels which are provided with a fixing side that can be activated by moistening, the device being configured with: - a label providing device (12) for providing individual labels (14), - a label receiving device (18) for receiving and transferring at least one of the labels (14) provided by the label providing device (12), - a transfer rotor (30), which receives the label from the label receiving device (18) and applies it to a surface of the article (42) to be labelled, - a conditioning unit (45, 47) for determining the current state of the surface of the article (42) to be labelled and - an activating unit (44) for moistening the label, wherein the activating unit activates the label received from the transfer rotor by moistening, the degree of moistening being adjustable in accordance with the state of the surface of the article (42) to be labelled that is determined at the time by the conditioning unit (45, 47).
