Frein parachute (1, 11, 15) destiné à une cabine d'ascenseur, le frein parachute (1, 11, 15) comprenant au moins une mâchoire de frein (3, 4) qui peut être mise en contact avec un rail fixe (2), le frein parachute (1, 11, 15) comprenant au moins deux mâchoires de frein (3, 4) qui se trouvent respectivement sur un levier (5, 6, 12, 13 16, 17) monté rotatif et peuvent simultanément être mises en contact avec des côtés mutuellement opposés du rail fixe (2) de sorte que le rail fixe (2) se trouve enserré à la manière d'une pince par les deux mâchoires de frein (3, 4).
