Abstract
The present invention relates to a binder composition for artificial marble, to artificial marble using same, and to a manufacturing method thereof. The binder composition consists of 10 to 90 wt % of a mineral powder and 10 to 90 wt % of a liquid binder. The mineral powder has an element composition of 5-72.7% C, 20-86.7% O, 1-67.7% Mg, 1-67.7% Al, 3-69.7% Si, 0.5-67.2% S, 0.5-67.2% Cl, 2-68.7% Ca, 0.1-66.8% Ti, 0.05-66.75% Mn, 0.05-66.75% Fe, and 0.1-66.8% In. The liquid binder is produced by dissolving at least one or more compounds selected from a group consisting of alkali metal chloride and alkali earth metal chloride into a mixture of clustered water and an amphiphilic surface-active enzyme obtained by binding a hydrophobic polymer to the surface of a hydrophilic enzyme, and mixing pH control agents and water that contains a rare earth element of less than 1 wt % with respect to the total amount of clustered water used for producing the liquid binder, with the solution in which alkali metal or alkali earth metal is dissolved. The thus-obtained binder composition is mixed with well-known materials for artificial marble, and molded to produce the artificial marble according to the present invention. As all of the materials used in the present invention are inorganic materials, the artificial marble of the present invention does not discharge substances harmful to the human body, and enables easy and convenient manufacture of artificial marbles.
