Abstract

Disclosed is a method for preventing the non-specific adhesion of an organic material to the surface of a material that constitutes a tool for use in an experiment using a protein-containing biological sample. Specifically disclosed is a surface treatment method for producing a surface having a low binding, which comprises the steps of: subjecting the surface of a solid phase to an oxidation treatment to introduce an oxygen-containing functional group to the surface; and chemically activating the treated surface to render the surface reactive, and subsequently treating the surface with a polyalkylene glycol derivative or a polypeptide which can react with the surface.
