Abstract
光学素子50は、第1液体62と、第1液体62と異なる第2液体63とを備えて容器52内に封入し、当該容器52内に印可する電圧を変化させることで、第1液体62と第2液体63との境界面形状(64)を変化させることが可能な液体レンズ61を有し、容器52の内部を外部に対して断熱する断熱部材(真空層)が設けられている。上記光学素子において、好ましくは、前記第1液体および前記第2液体の一方は導電性を有し、他方は絶縁性を有する。上記光学素子において、好ましくは、前記物理量は電圧である。上記光学素子において、好ましくは、前記容器内において前記第1液体または前記第2液体と接する接触面の面積をSLとし、前記接触面のうち前記断熱部材を構成する部分の面積をSIとしたとき、式 SI/SL>0.30 の条件を満足する。
