Abstract

 本発明の課題は、排気温度の低い運転状態であっても、確実に尿素水等の還元剤をアンモニア化して良好なNOx低減効果を得ることにある。パティキュレートフィルタ5と、選択還元型触媒と、連絡流路9とを備え、尿素水(添加後に分解してアンモニアを生成する還元剤)を前記連絡流路9の途中に添加し得るように構成した排気浄化装置に関し、前記連絡流路9内に排気ガスの旋回流を形成する旋回流形成手段13と、該旋回流形成手段13による旋回流の形成位置より上流側の相対的に圧力が高い箇所から排気ガスの一部を抜き出して前記旋回流の形成位置に導くバイパスチャンバ16と、該バイパスチャンバ16内を流れる排気ガスに対し尿素水をヒータ及び加水分解触媒により強制的に加水分解してアンモニアとして添加するサブ添加手段21と、前記連絡流路9の上流側で排気ガスの主流に対し尿素水を添加するメイン添加手段24とを備える。
