Abstract

 正面から見たときの画質(正面品位)を低下させることなく視野角を制限することができる視野角制御素子と、それを備えた表示装置とを提供する。液晶表示装置(1)は、液晶パネル(10)と、液晶パネル(10)の視野角を制御する視野角制御フィルム(20)とを備える。視野角制御フィルム(20)は、液晶フィルム(21)と直線偏光板(22)とを少なくとも有する積層フィルムである。液晶フィルム(21)は、液晶分子が、その長軸をフィルム表面の法線方向から所定の方位角方向に傾けて配列した状態で固化されている。視野角制御フィルム(20)の直線偏光板(22)と、液晶パネル(10)の直線偏光板(14)は、その偏光透過軸が、法線方向から見た場合に、前記液晶分子の長軸方向と交差するように配置されている。
