Abstract

 プラズマディスプレイパネル(1)は、等間隔に配列されて第1方向に沿って延びる表示電極(X,Y)を備える。表示電極のそれぞれは、マトリクス表示領域の全長にわたって第1方向に延びる2本の帯部と、複数の帯状放電空間(31)をそれぞれ部分的に覆って2本の帯部の両方に繋がりかつ第1方向の寸法が帯状放電空間(31)の幅(W3)よりも小さい複数の桟部とからなる梯子状に形成される。さらに表示電極(X,Y)は、第2方向の両端の近傍であって帯状放電空間(31)を覆う位置にそれぞれ形成された複数の放電案内部(80)を有する。放電案内部(80)は、下側導体(132)に第1方向の寸法が桟部よりも小さい上側導体(142,152)が重なり、上側導体の第1方向の両側に下側導体が突出する積層構造をもつ。
