Abstract

多数のセルがセル壁を隔てて長手方向に並設され、セルのいずれか一方の端部が封止された柱状のハニカム焼成体からなり、一方の端面側から流入したガスが他方の端面側から流出するハニカムフィルタであって、ハニカムフィルタには、そのガス流出側端面からハニカムフィルタの全長の１０％の領域には触媒担持層が形成されておらず、ハニカムフィルタのガス流入側端面から上記ハニカムフィルタの全長の９０％の領域のうち、ハニカムフィルタの全長の２５～９０％の領域には触媒担持層が形成され、ハニカムフィルタの触媒担持層が形成されていない領域の熱伝導率は、ハニカムフィルタの触媒担持層が形成された領域の熱伝導率に比べて高く、ハニカムフィルタの触媒担持層が形成されていない領域のセル壁のガス透過係数k1（μｍ２）とハニカムフィルタの触媒担持層が形成された領域のセル壁のガス透過係数k2（μｍ２）が、k1－k2≦0.5、1.0≦k1≦1.5 を満たす。
