Abstract

本発明は、バラツキが小さく、所望の大きさの気孔径を有する多孔質炭化ケイ素焼結体を製造する方法を提供することを目的とし、本発明の多孔質炭化ケイ素焼結体の製造方法は、少なくとも炭化ケイ素粉末とケイ素粉末とバインダとを含む原料組成物を用いて炭化ケイ素成形体を作製する成形工程と、 上記炭化ケイ素成形体に脱脂処理を施して、炭化ケイ素脱脂体を作製する脱脂工程と、 上記炭化ケイ素脱脂体に焼成処理を施して、多孔質炭化ケイ素焼結体を作製する焼成工程とを含む多孔質炭化ケイ素焼結体の製造方法であって、 上記原料組成物において、上記ケイ素粉末の含有量は、上記炭化ケイ素粉末と上記ケイ素粉末との合計量の１～３重量％であり、 上記焼成工程において、炭化ケイ素粉末同士が相互拡散により粒子間ネックを形成しうる温度で焼成処理を行うことを特徴とする。
