Abstract

L'invention se rapporte à un frein à friction mécanique, conçu en particulier pour un véhicule sur rails, ainsi qu'à un procédé de fonctionnement de ce frein à friction. Le frein à friction selon l'invention est caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte : une garniture de friction constituée d'un matériau de friction et destinée à appliquer une force frictionnelle de freinage sur une surface de friction d'un composant rotatif à ralentir ; ainsi qu'un système de serrage conçu pour appliquer une force de freinage sur cette garniture de friction. Selon l'invention, un dispositif de pulsation servant à générer une pulsation de la force de freinage est prévu.
