Description

CAP FOR BOTTLE-LIKE CONTAINERS
Object of the Invention
The object of the present invention is a lid for containers, especially bottles, which, after the first opening, makes possible a subsequent connection between the container and the lid, the connection means also foreseen as a means for holding and carrying the container.
Technical Problem
The technical problem to be solved by the present invention is to design such a lid for containers, especially bottles, which, after the first opening, will make possible a connection between the lid and the container and will at the same time be used for holding and carrying, yet will have minimum dimensions before the first opening and will neither result in any larger dimensions of the container that would have to be considered when designing the necessary room for storage and transportation nor require any additional processes when fastening the lid to the container, especially when this is done by machine.
Prior Art
Known lids comprising a means for connecting the lid and the container itself and for carrying the container are executed as rigid and articulated or flexible bands connecting the container and the lid.
Further, there are known lids comprising an eye for holding the container with one fmger or for hanging the container through it.
However, no means of this kind is known, which would be designed so as to be connectable at any time and able to be taken apart without damaging any part of the container or of the lid. Namely, there exists the need for a means that will be available to the purchaser of the container only as a possibility. The best example are bottles with soft drinks that are not drunk at once but in intervals. During this time they have to be carried around and it becomes necessary to carry them in a simple manner by using just some fingers or hanging them by means of a kind of eye.
It is also necessary to consider the processes of producing such bottles and filling them, which comprise large quantities to be produced and/or filled at great speed with keeping the cost as low as possible.
Solution to the Technical Problem
The above technical problem is solved in such a way that on the mantle of the lid a spirally wound band is executed, which at the part closer to the container is fastened to the lid with its lower end, whereas its opposite end is shaped as a ring fitting the upper part of the lid. The ring is executed with an indentation. The container below the lid is executed with a collar, whose circumference is larger than the inner circumference of the ring, but smaller than the inner circumference of the ring when, on the basis of an external force, it is expanded by the spreading of the indentation, so that the ring can be mounted on the container below the collar. Thus, an ear between the container and the lid is carried out, which connects both parts and also serves as a holding ear. If the band with the ear is just taken off the lid and left to freely hang from the lid, it can be used as an independent handle. The lid can also be carried out with a sealing ring of any known type, which gives an additional function to the lid and the container.
The invention will be explained in more detail by the description of an example of embodiment on a bottle, which is also represented in the enclosed drawing wherein
Fig. 1 shows the neck of the bottle and the lid according to the invention in a partial section, Fig. 2 shows the neck of the bottle according to the invention with the lid and the holding ring partially stripped off, Fig. 3 shows the neck of the bottle with the lid and the ring suitable for holding, and Fig. 4 shows the neck of the bottle with the lid and the ring mounted below the collar of the bottle.
In the described example of embodiment shown in the enclosed drawings the container is a bottle 1 with a screw neck 2 on which a collar 3 is formed under the thread.
To the screw neck 2 a lid 4 is screwed, which at the first mounting is sealed on the neck 2 by a sealing ring 5. On the mantle of the lid 4 a band 6 is wound in an approximately spiral manner. The band 6 is, at its end 7 that is closer to the neck 2, fixed to the lid 4 immediately above the sealing ring 5. Its opposite end 8 ending at the upper part of the mantle of the lid 4 is executed as a ring 9 fitting the mantle and connected to it in a relatively short section, preferably at the end 8. The ring 9 is executed with an indentation 10, preferably at the contact with the end 8 of the band 6. The indentation 10 is so deep that, at manual spreading, it changes the inner circumference of the ring 9 from a size smaller than the outer circumference of the collar 3 of the neck 2 to a size larger than the outer circumference of the collar 3.
The lid according to the invention can be used in several ways so that at its first mounting, preferably by machine, to the neck 2 it is sealed by the sealing ring 5. At manufacturing the band 6 is mounted to the mantle of the lid in such a manner that the ring 9 lies on the mantle of the lid 4. At the first unscrewing of the lid the sealing ring 5 is torn. Then the bottle can be closed and opened as often as desired. If a need for holding the bottle arises, the band 9 can be taken off the lid by tearing the connecting part at the end 8 and unwinding the spirally wound band 6 up to the end 7, where it remains fixed to the lid 4. Thus, the ring 9 is prepared to be used as a handle. It can also be used an ear for fixing, by an additional means such as a clip or a string, to another object e.g. a backpack, a belt etc. If one wishes, after unscrewing the bottle, to connect the lid and the bottle, the ring 9 is placed on the neck 2 and, after spreading, it is widened so that it can be pushed over the collar 3, whereafter - due to the choice of material - it springs back to the original diameter. A band-shaped strap between the neck and lid is obtained, which connects them and at the same time serves as a means for holding the bottle.
It is to be understood that on the basis of knowing the above-described example of embodiment, different embodiments of the invention can be designed without circumventing the essence of the invention defined in the following patent claims.
