Definitions

  • the gum disease begins and develops mainly in the area of the interdental spaces (interdental or approximal spaces).
  • Classic tooth care with a toothbrush is not sufficient for the prevention and treatment of gum disease (periodontitis) because the bristles of the toothbrush reach the interdental space only inadequately or not at all.
  • a water jet device for dental care at home, adherent and disease-causing dental plaque cannot be removed.
  • the appropriate tools recommended by dentists for keeping the proximal spaces clean are dental floss, tooth band and interdental brushes in various sizes and shapes - tools that are applied manually and require special commitment. The acceptance for such dentifrices is not very high, since there are special demands on skill.
  • a conventional electrically operated toothbrush is provided with a handle-shaped attachment in its upper area, which ends in an approximately cherry-sized head.
  • This head contains a cylindrical holder that oscillates transversely to the longitudinal axis to receive brushes or other treatment parts.
  • This holder is driven by an axis running through the handle, which has an eccentric pin at the upper end opening into the head. This pin engages fully an annular groove in the holder and, when the axis rotates, sets the holder in a reciprocating movement, which is implemented in two different frequencies via the motor selector switch.

  • the duration of the cleaning process can be individually determined in accordance with the dentist's recommendation or depending on the cleaning success.
  • the cleaning effect is all the better, the more precisely or precisely the treatment part reaches the area to be cleaned. Due to the high frequency of the treatment part, which can be selected in two steps of 150 Hz or 300 Hz, compared to the manually moved interdental space brush, a greater cleaning effect can be achieved in any case, since the apparatus, which is quietly in the hand, due to the slow, arcuate direction - Moving in the plane of the dentition allows a cleaning that fully touches the circumference of the tooth neck. After cleaning, the head (2) and stem area (5) with the respective treatment part is rinsed under running water while running in order to remove paste residues etc. from the area of the oscillating parts of the apparatus. However, since the treatment parts are wearing parts, their functionality must be checked before starting any cleaning.
  • the interdental space brush corresponds in its possible uses to the ideas and recommendations of dentists who want to give their patients a new means of dental hygiene that corresponds to their expanded care awareness.
