Au moins une des deux pièces possède deux fentes (111, 112) parallèles opposées, chacune de ces fentes permettant l'accès à une poche d'insertion (113, 114) servant au logement du cadre de tension. Les deux pièces peuvent être d'un type identique ou de types différents, au moins la pièce formant la surface de nettoyage (120, 130) présentant un tissu de base (102a, 103a) auquel sont fixés des fils de poil très serrés. Les bords des deux pièces constituent ensemble un bourrelet marginal (119). Ce bourrelet s'appuie, lorsque l'instrument de nettoyage est utilisé dans la zone de plinthes, contre les plinthes avec son bord dressé verticalement, de sorte qu'il est possible, avec ledit instrument, de nettoyer en une seule opération les plinthes et le sol.
