Abstract
Esta invencion proporciona composiciones y métodos para monitorear y regular la produccion de un producto blanco de una vía bioquímica en un organismo, tal como butanol. Un gen que codifica una molécula de un informante emisor de luz, tal como luciferasa, se une operativamente a una secuencia de nucleotidos reguladora de la transcripcion que regula la transcripcion de una enzima en la vía que senaliza la velocidad de produccion del producto blanco, tal como butanol deshidrogenasa. Cuando un microorganismo es transfectado con dicha construccion de informante y cultivado, el informante se expresa contemporáneamente con la enzima. La cantidad de luz producida por el informante indica la cantidad de enzima producida, la cual, a su vez, senaliza la cantidad de producto blanco que se está produciendo. Cuando el informante se mide en tiempo real, se proporciona informacion que se puede usar para regular las condiciones de cultivo y optimizar la produccion del producto blanco.
