FLY-PAPER HOLDER.
No. 903,701. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Nov. '10, 1908.
Application filed February 18, 1908. Serial No. 416,590.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ELLA B. FULLER, citizen of the United States of America, resid ing at New England, in the county of Wood and State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to a fly paper holder, andthe primary object of my invention is, to provide a simple and inexpensive paper holder that can be suspended from a suitable support upon a wall, wherebypersons or articles will not contact with the paper.
A further object of this invention is to provide a paper holder wherein a wire frame is employed for detachably holding a piece of fly paper, permitting of the paper being renewed when the same has been covered or partially covered with flies or similar insects.
Withthe above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be presently described and then specifically pointed out in the appended claims. In the drawings: Figure 1 is a perspective view of my fly paper holder, Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the under side of the fly paper holder, Fig. 3 is a detail sectional View of a portion of the holder, and Fig. A is a View of one end of the holder.
To put my invention into practice, 1 prowood or any strong and durable material.
Near one end of the plate 1, the same is provided with openings 2 and 8, the openings Q'being located adjacent to the edges of the plate 1, while the openings 3 are located approximately centrally of the width thereof. In these openings is placed a piece of wire which is bent to form a loop 4 upon wire extending upon the opposite side of the plate and through the openings 2, to embrace the body of material, lying between the openings 2 and the plate 1. The ends of the piece of wire finally terminate in resilient prongs or keepers 6. The opposite end of the plate 1 is provided with two openings 7, for eyelets 8, and mounted in these eyelets is a movable rectangular wire frame 9 having its corners bent to form eyelets 10 and 11, the eyelets 10 being connected together by a diagonally disposed wire 12, and the eyelets 11 by a similar wire 13.
The plate 1 is adapted to receive a piece of gum or adhesively coated paper 14;, similar to the ordinary fly paper at present used for catching flies and similar insects. This piece of fly paper 14 is retained upon the plate 1 by the rectangular frame 9 which is adapted to engage the resilient prongs or keepers 6, and prevent the wind or draft of air from moving the piece of paper 14.
The loop 4 at one end of the plate 1 is provided whereby the holder can be suspended flOfil a nail or suitable support carried by a wa It is thought that the construction and manner of using my fly paper holder will be apparent without further description, and'I reserve the right to make such structural changes as are permissible by the appended claims.
Having now described my invention what I claim as new, is
1. A fly paper holder embodying a plate having openings near one end, a piece of wire passed through said openings and formed with a central loop and having resilient prongs at its ends, eyelets carried by the plate near the other end thereof, and a wire frame movably connectedrto said eyelets and having diagonally disposed cross wires. the said frame adapted to holdua jacent the other end thereof and adapted to by the prongs carried by said plate whereby 1d be held in closed position upon said plate by the frame is held in a closed position against I said prongs. the platef 3. A fly paper holder comprising a paper In testimony whereof I aflix my signature receiving plate, prongs carried by said plate in the presence of tWo Witnesses.
adjacent one end thereof, a paper securing ELLA B. FULLER. frame pivot-ally secured to the plate near Witnesses: the other end thereof, the free end of said H. E. ADAMS,
paper securing frame adapted to be engaged M. P.- ADAMS.
