DUSTPBOOF BAG.
Application filed December 30, 1927.
This invention relates to a new and in1- proved form of a dust-proof bag.
()ne of the objects of the invention is to provide a di'ist-proof bag combiln-id in a simple and etlicient manner with a sljipportinn; hook and with a spreader located in the interior of the bag, this spreader being adapted to :separate the side walls of the baa so as to permit the ready insertion of a. garment.
Other objects of the invention will be set forth in the following description and drawinns which illustrate a preferred embodiinent tlwreof, it being lnulerst-ood that the above general statei'nent 01 the objects of the invention is intended to generally (X-- plain the same and not to limit it in any manner.
l igjg. 1 is a side view of the combination supporting member and spreader for the bag.
Fig. 2 is a view taken on the line 2 9. of Fig.1. 1.
his. 3 is a side view of the device showiii in Fig. 1.
ll is a detail view showing how the combination support and spreader is assembled with the bag.
Fin. 5 is a view similar to Fig. l, showinn the spreader in the operative position.
Fig. 6 is a detail sectional view partly in elevation.
The bag B which is made of paper or any other suitable material is ]')referably closed at the top thereof and it provided with an opening at one side thereof to permit a garn'ient to be inserted or removed.
The top of the bag; is connected to a clip 1 made of any suitable metal. The said clip 1 has a general U-shaped contour and the top of the ban is held between the vertical legs thereof. These vertical legs of the clip 1 are n'ovided with stamped out ribs ()ne of the legs of the clip 1 provided with slots 41-, and the other leg is provided with tongues 5 struck out therefrom so that the tongues 5 can be forced through the sidenills of the bag into the slots 4.
The tongues 5 can then be bent up as illustrated for example in Fi n. 6 so as to ii inly clamp tl top of the bag to the clip 1. top of t i. p 1 enlai and a heels Serial No. 243,523.
6 which is provided with an enlarged head 7, is swivelled in the top of the clip 1. so that the said hook 6 can be freely turned and it can. also have a certain freedom of lateral movement with respect to the clip 1.
The spreader 7 has an enlarged head 8 which is located between the ribs 3 so that while the spreader 7 can be freely turned, it is connected to the clip 1 without the need of any additional fa "i 'ng means. The bag provided with an interior flap 10 made of paper or the like, the top of which extends above the enlarged head 8, as clearly shown in Fig. (i, and this interior flap 10 serves to reinforce the bag at the point where it is connected to the clip 1.
When the spreader 7 is turned position shown in Fig. 5, the side walls of the bag are separated so that a garment placed upon an ordinary hanger can be readily inserted into the bag and the hook of the hanger can be n'iounted. upon the bottom of into the the spreader 7, which is suitably shaped for,
this purpose. 1
It is obvious that the clip 1 and the hook 6 can be readily assembled to form a unit, and that it is very simple to assemble this unit with the bag B and the spreader 7.
As shown in Fig. (3, it is not necessary to perforate the top of the bag at all. Likewise, and as shown in Fig. 6, the top of the bag is firmly clamped between the legs of the clip 1, above the ribs A 'n'eferred embodiment of the invention has been described but it is clear that numerous changes and emissions can be made without departing from the spirit of my invention.
I claim:
1. In combination, a dust proof bag having a cli. p connected to the top portion thereof, said clip having between which said top portion of the bag is clamped and a garment support having the top thereof located. within the top portion of said ban, the top portion of said garment support being located between said legs and above the bottoms thereof.
2. In combination, a dustproof bag having a clip connected to the top portion there of, id clip having legs exit "jog below ments which are substantially aligned, and
a garment support located within said bag and held between said enlargements.
3. In combination, a dust-proof bag hav- 5 ing a closed top and a clip having legs extending below the top of the said bag, the
top of said clip having a hook connected thereto, said legs having aligned enlargements therein, and a garment support located within said bag and connected to the 1 said legs between the enlargements thereof. In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
