Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QEEIOE.r
LOUIS HELLMAINT AND GEORGE GREGORY, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
IMPROVEMENT IN PAPER CASES OR POCKETS.
Speciiication forming part of Letters Patent N o. 194,599, dated August 28, 1877; application filed June 13, 1877.
lowing is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, that will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this .specicatiom in which- Figure 1 is a View from the front, showing the flap turned back. Fig. 2 is a plan view,
` the dotted lines indicating the creases preparatory to being folded. Fig. 3 is a side view, showing the interior of the case or pocket.
The object of our invention is to provide a useful and convenient receptacle which can b e used for manifold purposes, such as wallpockets and photograph and cigar cases, as they can easily be manufactured of any required dimensions, and without the use of any expensive machinery. i g,
It will be seen that the blanks are of such a pattern that there is but a tritling waste of material in cutting them out.
This article, as shown, is composed of two distinct compartments, so arranged that the contents of both are exposed at the same time.
In the material used to manufacture these cases we do not entirely coniine Ourselves to paper, but also use cloth. We do not use any paste, as the article is held together entirely by the manner in which it is folded.
In the drawing, A represents an eyelet, inserted in the iiap to admit of the case being used as a wall-pocket, and suspended from that point; B, outside flap, which folds over the open end of the case, eectually closing it; C, a slit or narrow opening, in which the iiap B is inserted to close the pocket; D D, inside iiaps, folded in the manner shown; E E, dotted lines representing the creases in the material ready for folding.
When the outer pocket is lledl it adds strength to the general construction, and prevents the case from spreading apart..
Having thus described our invention, what we claim, and desire to secure by Letters Pat- As a new article of manufacture, a paper case or pocket, made of a single piece of material, folded over upon itself, the blank being creased and folded along the dotted lines E E, the inside aps D D locking the parts securely together, the whole covered bythe outside ap B, folding over the end of the case, and secured in the slit C, and having the eyelet A inserted in the flap B for the purpose of allowing the case to be used as a wall-pocket, and suspended from this point, as and in the manner shown, and for the purpose set forth.
LOUIS HELLMAN. GEORGE GREGORY. Witnesses:
