c. FOURNIER .Filed 061:1 30. 1929 i ma eZeat Lne/ F0 aw-n er INVENTOR ATTORNEY Patented June 24, 1930 UNITED STATES L teral GELESTINE FOUBNIER, or frEw'rsroN; MAINE BUTTON Application filed October 30, 1929. Serial No. 403,631.
one end of the loops, and resilient pins arranged at the other end of the loops and adapted to be passed through the garment or other material with which the button is to be associated, and received by the hooks.
The nature and advantages of the invention will be better understood when the following detail description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, the invention residing in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts as claimed.
In the drawing forming part of this application like numerals of reference indicate similar parts in the several views and wherein:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of a button having the attaching means associated therewith.
Figure 2 is a rear elevation.
Figure 3 is a sectional View on line 83 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a sectional view on line 4-4 of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is a sectional view on line 5-5 of Figure 2. A I
Referring to the drawing in detail, indicates a button of any ordinary well known construction having the usual holes 11.
The attaching means employed for securing the button to a garment or other support is formed from a single length of any suitable material, preferably wire possessing the proper degree of resiliency for the purpose intended. This wire is folded upon itself with the intermediate portion of the.
wire twisted at spaced points as at 12, and
defining centrally located loops 13 between the twisted portions 12 as clearlyillustrated' in Figure 2. The loops 13, are adapted to pass through the adjacent holes of the button as illustrated, while the wire forming one of the twisted portions is extended and bent upon itself to provide a pair of spaced confronting hooks 14:. The wire forming the other twisted portion is extended to provide a pair of spaced resilient coils 15, and the outermost convolution of each coil is extended to provide a pin 16. These pins of course are arranged in parallelism, and are of a length to engage the hooks 14:, after having been passed through the arment or other support with which the utton is to be connected. It is manifest by reason of the construction illustrated and described, that I have provided a button, which may be used as an emergency button, and has associated therewith means by which the button can be quickly and conveniently attached to or removed from the garment as the occasion may require.
While it is believed that from the foregoing description, the nature and advantages of the invention will be readily apparent, I desire to have it understood that I do not limit myself to what is herein shown and described and that such changes may be resorted to when desired as fall within the scope of what is claimed.
What is claimed:
1. In combination, a button having a plurality of holes therein, an attaching means formed from a single length of resilient material and including spaced centrally located loop-like portions passed through the adjacent holes of the button,
spaced confronting hooks formed by the intermediate portion of the material, and a pair of resilient pins forming part of the material and adapted to be received by said hooks for the purpose specified.
2. In combination, a button having a plurality of holes therein, an attaching means comprising a member formed from a single length of wire and including centrally located loops passed through the adjacent holes of the button, the material forming said loops being twisted together at spaced points, one of the twisted portions being extended to provide a pair of opposed hooks, the other twisted portion being extended to provide spaced resilient coils, and the outermost convolution of each coil being extended to provide a resilient pin adapted to engage one of said hooks.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
OELESTINE FOURNIER.
